Opening Scandinavian gateways to California with Norwegian Air March 24th-29th, 2017 - an Atlantic Link case story

New route openings are a vital resource to furthering tourism. Atlantic Link work closely with all relevant airlines to improve gateways to our destinations. One of our key partners, Norwegian Air, is currently expanding their route network.

Building on several Scandinavian gateways to the U.S., Norwegian Air announced the opening of a new direct route between Copenhagen and Oakland in the Bay Area. Atlantic Link entered into a partnership with Norwegian Air to highlight the new route as well as the wonderful destination behind the new gateway.

Escorted by Atlantic Link's Public Relations Manager, Anders Bjerre Jakobsen, a Danish group of key media and travel industry executives spent five days uncovering the wonders of California.

Flying into LAX and covering more than 500 miles by roadtrip, the group discovered West Hollywood’s glamour, Solvang’s Danish charm, Monterey’s picturesque surroundings, San Francisco’s creativity and Oakland’s new, appealing downtown before departing OAK on Norwegian’s inaugural flight to Copenhagen.

Oakland is the eighth largest city in California, and the 45th largest city in the United States. Oakland’s diverse population, hip arts scene, Mediterranean climate, abundant parks and open spaces, vibrant waterfront and lakefront, historic architecture, bustling nightlife and varied recreation options make for an exciting destination.

California is literally one big outdoor playground and a roadtrip along the famous highways is the perfect way of unveiling a diverse landscape that spans from the beautiful sand beaches of Los Angeles through the rocky, dramatic coastline to the rolling, lush hills of the Bay Area and the majestic National Parks.
