My Experience In Ceramics I By catherine Samia

Tile Triptych Project

This was our very first project, and it was my first time using clay that wasn't Play-Doh. It was a little difficult at first when it came to wedging, and making sure that the slabs were equal in thickness, but it became easier as time went on. My favorite part of this project was definitely creating the flower part of the rose.

Tile Slab Boxes

I'm very proud of this project because it came out exactly as I had envisioned it, and I took my time on it. I had set out to make it look like bark, and I believe that it achieved that feat. Overall, I love the way that it turned out.

Wheel-thrown Work

At first, I struggled on the wheel, though as time went on, I became better at it. Overall, I'm happy with all of my pieces, and I've even used one to eat a lunch of quinoa and a veggie burger.

Trompe L'oeil

They're supposed to resemble books, and I think that I achieved that. Though, I wish that the burgundy matte glaze didn't come out as streaky as it did.
