Nene Valley Railway

Nene Valley Railway is the UK’s leading international steam attraction, based at Wansford Station, and covering the stations of Ferry Meadows, Orton Mere, Yarwell Junction, and Peterborough. Enjoy the chance to experience the thrill of riding a steam engine and explore the picturesque surroundings of the Nene Valley area. The picnic area at Wansford is open all year round. A children’s playground is located near to the car park entrance.

PM Option 1

Yarwell Station

Stop off at Yarwell Station and enjoy a circular walk around the villages of Nassington and Yarwell. Nassington lies six miles from the town of Oundle and is famous for its quintessentially English houses and church, which are built of the local mellow grey limestone. The 13thC manor house is perhaps the earliest surviving manor house in the country. It is built on the site of a royal manor which belonged to King Canute.

Ferry Meadows Country Park

Enjoy local walks, cycling, horse - riding, fishing, train rides and much more! Lakeside provides a hub for activity and relaxation within Ferry Meadows as the home for Nene Outdoors, a new watersports and outdoor activity venture, Rutland Cycling and Lakeside Kitchen and Bar.

Peterborough (Nene Valley Station)

This stops is the gateway to the historic city. Enjoy heritage attractions, countryside walks, nature reserves and villages with events throughout the year.

Experience the magnificent Norman Cathedral, a special experience of beautiful grounds and majestic architecture. Follow the heritage trail to be transported back in time at Peterborough Museum. Rural Peterborough highlights across John Clare country are Burghley House, John Clare Cottage and Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre with its historic Watermill.
