LSA students to shine at upcoming Senior Art Show Ronnie Romanelli, Staff Writer

The Lecanto High School [LHS] senior art show will be at the College of Central Florida Lecanto campus Thursday, March 30, at 6 p.m.

The art teachers are very excited to show their students’ work at the show

“I love all of the pieces; they are all so unique,” Polly Hilgert, art teacher at LHS said.

The students must dress up very nice for the show.

“All the students have to dress in formal attire,” Hilgert said

The students will be displaying six to eight pieces from their concentration.

A concentration is a series of art pieces that have to do with one subject or topic. All of the students have a theme.

“My concentration is based on jazz art. It incorporates a lot of vibrant colors and musical instruments with a New Orleans vibe,” senior Jazzy Philipson said.

“My concentration is an attempt to show the disconnect between the emotions a person shows others and those that they hide,” senior Ally Thompson said.

The students have been working extremely hard their four years in the art program, and the artists are excited to look back at what they’ve done in that time.

“I am looking forward to seeing how we’ve progressed and evolved with our art over the years,” senior Jaron Kephart.

The students and teachers all expect a nice turnout, as the show is open to the public.

“Come see the show! There will be a lot of talent on display, and I guarantee not one piece will disappoint,” Hilgert said.
