Enjoying the Ride Things to do this fall

Happy Friday to you! Here in Noblesville, IN, the schools are on a two week fall break, and many surrounding communities are enjoying a week off as well. Red, orange, and yellow hues have started showing up on the trees. Do you have plans to take in some fall foliage in the area? Perhaps a road trip to see some fall color several hours - or states - away? In today's post, we will share some tips on preparing for a road trip and some local and destination ideas for taking in fall's beauty. I took the Baur for a quick spin last week to get some early fall photos of her before she goes into winter storage. It was the perfect sunny afternoon with a few bits of yellow on the trees, as well as crunchy leaves and acorns already on the ground.

If you've been on any kind of road trip before in your BMW, Mini, Audi, VW, Mercedes, or Porsche, then you may agree that preparation is key to a fun experience! In light of this, here are some tips for preparing for a road trip this fall and to be prepared for the coming winter season.

One very important item to check is your battery. If it has been 5 years since your battery was replaced, consider having it tested. Another important item to take a look at is your tires. How are they wearing? Does it pass the penny tread depth test? When you insert a penny head first into a tire tread, does it reach Lincoln's hair? If not, you may be due for new tires. Another item to test is your cooling system. The list goes on. To give yourself peace of mind, let our German car care professionals handle all of this for you! Call our friendly staff at Reggie's Motorworks to schedule an inspection. We would love to help! Schedule your next appointment by phone at 317-773-0074 or 24/7 via our online scheduler here. We have a small fleet of courtesy vehicles to get you where you need to be while your German car is in for service. Ask us for details!

The personalized Euro plate shows that the Baur loves fall too! Her "birthday" is 10/01/84.

Looking for some local car-related events to attend? Hoosier BMW is hosting its 11th Annual Ohio River Tour on Saturday, October 16th. The event includes a scenic drive through Southern Indiana with a stop for lunch at The Overlook Restaurant in Leavenworth. To join in on the fun, check out the details and sign up here.

Hoosier BMW also has another drive through Bloomington and French Lick on Saturday, October 26th. Total driving distance is about 100 miles, starting with breakfast in Bloomington, with the option to stay and enjoy free time in French Lick. The Baur received a new interior earlier this year! We love the mix of leather and tweed that compliment the zobelbraun metallic exterior.

Of course, you can always create your own adventure! We love to spend a day, a weekend, or more in Brown County! We've rented various log cabins over the years (one of our favorites is Robinwood Inn!). Last year we tent camped in Brown County State Park, where we enjoyed hiking, sitting by the campfire, visiting the Nature Center, and going to Nashville for pizza, ice cream, coffee, and a pint of the locally brewed beer! We love Big Woods and the new, beautifully designed Hard Truth Hills! Some years we've simply driven to Nashville for the day, taking in the quaint shops, delicious food, and fall scenery. The choices are endless! We are heading there soon to camp with our boys!

Essential safety items to take along include a flashlight, spare batteries, tire pressure gauge, hand warmers, a blanket, hat and gloves, jumper cables, and water. Some optional fun extras to pack for a fall road trip include favorite music, a fully loaded Starbucks gift card, games, all-weather floor mats, a camera, and tasty snacks. What do you like to take with you on road trips?

Taking the top off allows the crisp fall air to sweep through the car and is great for seeing fall color all around!
These wheels seem to draw attention wherever they go!
