Sophomore ALEKSA MATIC (#10) recently represented his home country of Serbia this summer by playing on the Serbian U20 National Team. In an interview with UNA Athletics, Matic said that playing on the U20 team will definitely help him in this upcoming season at UNA. He stated, "I was looking forward to playing with these guys. The styles of play are very different. It helps to bring the American style here, but it also helps to have a European style back in the US. You really need to be able to play both in order to have a well-rounded game and become a complete player." UNA is proud to have a player who supports and represents not only his home country, but his home right here in Florence, as well.
During the 2018-2019 season, our UNA Men's Basketball team made it all the way to the ASUN Quarter Finals, only to unfortunately be stopped in their tracks by a defeat of 10 points (66-76) against University of North Florida. This 2019-2020 season, however, the Ospreys are coming to UNA on January 4th. Make sure to buy season tickets and cheer on our Lions as they go head to head against North Florida once again!
A team could have all the talent in the world, but they wouldn't get anywhere without great coaches. Our men's basketball team is extremely lucky to have a great team of coaches willing to lead and lend a hand to make sure that our Lions are always their best!
