Principal's Newsletter Patton Middle School - October 14, 2019

Dear Patton Families,

Earlier this school year, you should have received an email with information regarding how to pay for your child's Chromebook insurance fee for the 2019-2020 school year. We have decided to extend the deadline to this Friday, October 18th. If you want to pay online, please create an account on RevTrak, our online payment website, https://ucfsd.revtrak.net. Click on your child's school, then "Chromebook Agreement/Fee" to read the guidelines and complete your payment. If you have trouble, please let us know by emailing onlinepayments@ucfsd.net. If you want to pay by check, please download the Chromebook Agreement from our website and send the $50.00 fee Attn: Justin Webb, Director of Technology. Please make checks payable to UCFSD.

We are excited about our upcoming Parent Visitation Day to be held on Friday, October 25th! We welcome the opportunity to showcase our school. This is your opportunity to get a first hand glimpse of “a day in the life of a middle schooler.” Parents are invited to join us beginning at 8:00AM and ending at 2:00PM. We will have staff to assist with parking in the back of the school by the cafeterias. Parents are welcome to tour the school and visit classrooms throughout the day. It will be a very busy day. In order to help ensure a smooth and positive experience for everyone, we are asking parents to observe the following guidelines:

  • All visitors must enter the building through the back entrance of our large cafeteria.
  • Registration tables will be set-up in the large cafeteria
  • We encourage all visitors to pre-register using this link: click here to pre-register for Parent Visitation Day.
  • Visitors who are not pre-registered must have a driver’s license. Information from the driver’s license will be entered manually at the registration tables. This is a time-consuming process.
  • Visitors will not be permitted to enter the building without a registration sticker
  • Please enter classrooms at the beginning of the period. You may leave classrooms at any time.
  • Do not ask teachers to discuss grades or other concerns.
  • Turn cell phones off or set to vibrate/silent when in the classrooms.
  • Prepare to stand in the event that all chairs are in use. We have placed all of our available chairs in each of the classrooms.
  • Refrain from talking while the class is in session.
  • The event ends at 2:00, please be sure you are off the campus by 2:10 to avoid being caught in our bus lineup. Buses begin lining up for dismissal at 2:15.Be sure you know, or have a copy of your child’s schedule.

Weekly News

PTO Book Fair

The Patton Book Fair is coming October 18-25!! And once again this year in conjunction with the book fair, we will be holding our Coin Jar Challenge. The competition starts October 8 and and runs through Thursday, October 17th. The money will be used to purchase books for Patton's library. Even better, Scholastic will be matching the money we earn to purchase books for schools in need. A pizza lunch will be awarded in each grade for the Advisory who earns the most money. Last year our sixth graders earned the most money in the challenge of all three grades!

In other library related news, we wanted all Patton students to be aware that Jason Reynolds and Laurie Halse Anderson will be in the area. These are two of the biggest names in Young Adult literature. Jason Reynolds wrote Long Way Down and the Track Series among many other books. 7th and 8th graders, you likely remember Laurie Halse Anderson, the author of Fever 1793, Chains, and Speak from her visit to Patton last spring. The authors will be visiting Barnes and Noble in Exton next Wednesday, October 9th. We have off from school that day. Please see the library website for more information on this incredible opportunity.
