2017 Distinguished Service Awards NOMINATION PERIOD is now open

California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, invites you to submit nominations for the 2017 Distinguished Service Awards, the most prestigious award presented by the Judicial Council of California.

Who is eligible for a Distinguished Service Award?

  • Directors of innovation, individuals, teams, and organizations who lead, organize, and go above and beyond the scope of their role or position;
  • champions of public service;
  • and government, non-profit organizations & community partnerships who partner with the judicial branch and justice stakeholders to expand fair access to justice for every Californian.

Award recipients will be announced in July, 2017.

Criteria for Recipients:

The Distinguished Service Award is the highest award presented by the Judicial Council of California. The award honors California judicial branch members; federal, state, or local justice partners; non-profit organizations or individuals for their extraordinary dedication, outstanding leadership, and significant contributions to advancing the council's strategic goals for the judicial branch.

Since 1993, the award has been presented to justices, judges, court professionals, a state governor, a federal Supreme Court justice, domestic violence and family law advocates, and organizations who campaign on issues of importance to the branch. See full list.
