Ghana 2017 my call to serve

Hi, I am Kerry. I am coming to you today to share exciting news in my life. I have been chosen to join a team from my church, Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg, to travel to Ghana on a Short-Term Mission Trip! I will be making my journey to Africa in August. Please allow me to give you some insight on my journey to this point.

My grandparents 1981

I grew up close to my family, we were small, but tight. My grandparents were the "religious" ones. I didn't regularly attend church, but I was always a believer. I knew there was life after death and there had to be a higher power. At some point, I stopped considering God. My grandparents never gave up, I know my grandmother prayed for me until she could no longer.

Danelle 2009

My dear friend Danelle invited me to her church, her husband was playing the drums at the Central Park location that Sunday, with just so happens to be adjacent to the restaurant that brought me to Fredericksburg for work. I didn't know it at the time but He had already planted a seed. After a few visits, I knew I had found my church. I found the place to guide me on my walk with Jesus.

I have been blessed with this amazing opportunity to travel to Africa a serve shoulder to shoulder with long-term missionaries in their Kids Camp Ministries. Quoting directly from the website : " Kids Camp brings together children from multiple districts of the region to spend a week at a facility where a team of counsellors advise them on various life-building issues to inspire and guide them to lead meaningful lives."

I would like to ask for prayer from the team, not only for our health but our effectiveness while we are away. I am also asking that you please pray for every life that will be touched as we prepare for this trip and while we are traveling. We pray to reach those far from God and grow in our own faith as His servant.

This trip will not be possible without the generosity of people like you! I would also like to ask that you consider sowing into my trip financially. The cost of the trip is $3200 as well as a few additional administrative costs. If you feel lead to give financially, please visit http://lifepoint.org/ghana/ and click on Support a Traveler, where you can donate safely and securely. Please contact me directly for information regarding a check donation. Any donation, no matter the size, is tremendously appreciated.

I would like to thank you for your time and prayers today. While the ultimate goal is to spread the Gospel and bring people to Jesus, the reason behind this is most dear to my heart. I promise this little girl that I will do everything I can to make the world a better place for her. I promise to be a good role model and provider for her and to let Christ guide me on that path. That path is leading me to Ghana, and I hope you will join me.

With Love, Kerry McKenney
