HEAD OF SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS OCTOBER 2018 LaVonne McIlrath, LCA Head of School

"... do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31B

Bye Bye Bullying, Hello Kindness

National Bullying Prevention Month is held during October to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. It made me wonder ... is "bullying" ever mentioned in the Bible? Well, as you might guess, it is not. However, the Bible does teach us a lot about how to deal with people that do us wrong. Romans 12:21 tells us to overcome evil with good. Proverbs 15:1 says "A gentle answer turns away wrath" and verse 25:21 says "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink." That's what we are teaching here at LCA, and that's how God treats us every day - although we have our failures and shortcomings, He continues to forgive and pour out His love and goodness to us. We can take the wind out of a bully's sails, when we pay back evil with good! "Be ye kind one to another!"

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

You are invited to LCA for COFFEE & CONVERSATION on Wednesday, October 31, at 9:30 AM. This month our discussion will focus on how to offset bullying with kindness. Let us know if you can come, and we'll put the coffee on for you!
BEING A CHRISTIAN IS LIKE BEING A PUMPKIN: God picks you from the patch and brings you in. (John 15:16) Then washes all the dirt off of you. (2 Corinthians 5:17) He opens you up and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. (Romans 6:6) Then He carves you a new smiling face. (Psalm 71:23) And He puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. (Matthew 5:16)
LCA is Making a Difference ...
NEW TEACHER MAKING A DIFFERENCE - Mrs. Jill Erskine, 4th grade teacher, took the initiative to contact 104.9 The River to get our school recognized in the community. As a result of her efforts, her 4th grade students will be reciting the Pledge of Allegiance on radio station 104.9 The River on Wednesday, October 17, at 8:10 AM. Thank you, Mrs. Erkskine, for making a difference!
PATASKALA DIFFERENCE MAKER BREAKFAST - We recently attended the Difference Maker Breakfast sponsored by Park National Bank. It was a privilege to be recognized in the community by being a part of the program with the other area school representatives. As printed in the Pataskala Standard, "... several local leaders, including school superintendents Dr. Phillip Wagner and Robert Jennell, Pataskala Mayor Mike Compton, and Liberty Christian Academy's LaVonne McIlrath, also provided brief updates about current events and projects underway in local and city government."
A DIFFERENCE FROM A FORMER STUDENT'S PERSPECTIVE - "What was there not to love about LCA? What I probably love and miss the most was the people and the relationships I had with everyone when I used to go there. The teachers are not the people who just go to their job and get paid; the teachers at LCA truly care for you. They don't feel like teachers, they feel more like a second big family. And the students, when I went to LCA everyone just cared for each other, they look out for each other. Most of them have been going there most/all of their lives and have made great friendships this way. I truly miss everyone at LCA (I started to cry thinking about past times I had at LCA.) You truly don't realize what all you had until you don't have it anymore."
LCA provides a quality Christian education in a Christ-centered environment in order to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action.
