Matcha latte provides perfect morning pick-me-up by Ella Shi '23

Matcha lattes are one of my favorite drinks to order at a cafe. However, with just a quick few steps, it can be made at home. With both hot and iced options, matcha lattes can serve as a delicious caffeine kick for both cold winter mornings and hot summer days.

Ingredients for one latte: one cup of milk of choice (warmed up if making a hot latte), a quarter cup of boiling water, one teaspoon of matcha powder, sweetener to taste (I used honey) and a hand full ice (if making an iced latte).

For either hot or cold, start by whisking together the boiling water and matcha powder in a cup of choice. There should be no clumps or visible powder. A milk frother is helpful to combine thoroughly.

For a hot latte, add the hot milk to the matcha and water mixture.

For a cold latte, add ice to the matcha and water mixture. Then pour the milk over.

Finally, stir in sweetener to taste. I used about one teaspoon of honey in each.

Now, enjoy. Add a metal straw if you want and sip away at your quick homemade matcha latte.
