Jose M. Lopez CONGRESSIONAL medal of Honor winner

Jose M. Lopez was born in Santiago Ihuitlán Plumas, Oaxaca, Mexico on July 10th 1910. Jose eventually moved to Texas, where he fought in the Military.

He was a soldier in World War II and the Korean War. He served from 1942-1973.

In WWII, during the Battle of the Bulge, in Belgium, he killed more than 100 Germans and was the sole defender of Company K's left flank. That's how he earned the Congressional Medal Of Honor.

Jose died in 2005 in San Antonio at the home of his daughter where he had lived since 1973. He was 94 years old.
