Revisions to the Training Requirements

From the 1st September 2017 we will have a revision to the training requirements for those taking part in an Academic Promotion Committee or Staff Recruitment Panel. In partnership with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Office, Staff Learning and Development has introduced a blended learning approach for the mandatory training required for those taking part in an academic promotion committee or staff recruitment panel.

Colleagues will be required to complete two on-line modules instead of attending TMS9 (Training in Equality and Diversity Issues). This new approach will enhance the learning experience of colleagues by giving them the opportunity to learn about unconscious bias in addition to equality and diversity issues. The introduction of the on-line modules will mean that colleagues can undertake the learning at a time to suit them and reduce the time spent away from the workplace.

For those colleagues who have already completed the two on-line modules since January 2017 there is no requirement to repeat them.

For those colleagues who have attended TMS9 there is no requirement to undertake the two on-line modules, however we would encourage colleagues to complete the modules as they offer an opportunity for enhancing learning in this important topic.

Colleagues taking part in an academic promotion committee or a staff recruitment panel will be required to undertake the following two online modules

Colleagues involved in the recruitment of staff are also required to attend:

The Awards 2017

Congratulations to those who were invited or attended the Staff Learning and Development Awards last month. This event was to acknowledge the commitment and success of University staff who have gained a nationally recognised qualification or committed a considerable amount of time to a course provided by Staff Learning and Development.
