MARCO POLO AND The Silk Road

The Silk Road and Marco Polo made a major impact on the start of the renaissance. The Silk Road had a great impact because of Polo’s stories he told to the Europeans about the goods in Asia. Soon then the Europeans were curious and wanted to get items from Asia, and this is how trade grew between Asia and Europe. Polo and his family also traveled on this route. They used this to travel to China, where Marco Polo became apart of the of the Chinese government. “Some of these goods came from India, China, and other lands to the east.”(page 298).

Rediscovering the Past

The Greek and Roman ideas helped shape the renaissance because of the artists who sculpted. The artists had to study humans (humanity) to be able to make their sculptures look more realistic. "They studies history, literature, public speaking, and art. All of these subjects emphasized the actions and abilities of humans. These subjects are known as the humanities."(document 2). This states that the study of humanity was neither way of the new changes of the renaissance. In summary, the new ways of studying helped shape the Renaissance.
