At the beginning of this year you did the work of calling representatives to advocate for FOSTA/SESTA (Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act.)

The bill was signed and major shutdowns followed including, The Erotic Review (like Yelp for the sex trade), the personals section on Craigslist, and commercial sex-related ads on Google, Wordpress, and PayPal.

Backpage was also seized this year by the government. Backpage was involved in 73% of all child trafficking reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Intervention & Outreach

Elijah Rising is known for reaching out to women at the places where they are being sexually exploited by providing resources and a way of escape. In 2018, you helped start 2 new Interventions in Baytown and League City.

"I'm basically just writing today to say thank you and to remind you that sometimes you may never know who you all have truly saved bc a lot of the girls that do get out are scared to speak out. I'm mentally in a better place but it's still a struggle every single day for me. You all helped change my life with the power of influence and awareness and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart." - Sex Trafficking Survivor

In 2018 the Museum of Modern-Day Slavery was featured in Dignity: A National Journal on Sexual Exploitation to bring awareness to sex trafficking in Houston, TX.

Through Awareness Van Tours, Elijah Rising volunteers educated more than 1,106 community members and leaders about sex trafficking. Including a Van Tour to 20 international journalists, and City of Houston officials.

"I did the Cypress tour tonight. Wow, eye opening and sad seeing all that is going on in our city. But also encouraged knowing that God opens doors and opens hearts in the midst of this rapidly growing sex trafficking industry." - Van Tour Attendee

You helped us keep the first robot brothel in the United States from opening in Houston, TX. The petition we created garnered more than 13,000 signatures, and received worldwide attention.

The petition was successful—City of Houston, Harris County, Fort Bend County, and other outlying counties made amendments to their sexually oriented business regulations.

Restorative Care

2018 was a significant year for Elijah Rising's restorative care program for survivors of sex trafficking. We have created a program that utilizes best practices for helping rebuild the lives of those who have survived sexual exploitation.

This year one Kendleton Farm resident graduated our program, and another resident recently received a full scholarship to go to school for computer programming!

"After 9 months of waiting and trusting that God would make a way, I received a phone call that I am getting a full scholarship! I cannot thank Elijah Rising enough for how they have supported and walked through this with me!" - Kendleton Farms Resident

In 2019 we are preparing the grand opening of the Booth Home that will eventually provide up to 8 beds. Thanks to volunteers and donors like you we are excited for the future expansion of Kendleton Farms to help more women survivors.

We are so grateful for all of our volunteers—you make it possible to bring awareness to so many in our communities and fight sex trafficking.

Thank You!

As we remember all the Lord has done this year, we would like to say thank you for partnering and supporting Elijah Rising in the mission to end sex trafficking and bring freedom.

You play a vital role in protecting our communities and enabling restoration and freedom for women and their children who have survived sex trafficking. We look forward to 2019, and we invite you to continue to partner with Elijah Rising by making a contribution.
