All NiSi square filters are Nano coated, offer ultra low colour cast, low reflection, Optical high definition glass, double sided water proofing and IR coating. By using neutral density filters the camera is vulnerable to infrared light which will cast an unwanted red colour to the image when shooting at small apertures. NiSi Filters have added the infrared protection coating layer to their filters to eliminate the infrared light reaching the sensor/film resulting in a more natural colour.
All of the NiSi filter holders outer rings are made from aviation-grade aluminium and are high quality and extremely durable.
Here's a couple of short videos about the filters -

The NiSi Filter Holder System V2-II
The NiSi 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder V2-II is designed to allow for the convenient use of 100mm-wide, 2mm-thick filters. While in use, vignetting is prevented on wide-angle, non-fisheye lenses with focal lengths as low as 10mm for APS-C sensor digital cameras and16mm for 35mm film and full-frame sensor digital cameras.
Use of this filter holder is easily accomplished by first screwing a separately available NiSi Adapter Ring for 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder onto a compatible lens. Adapter rings are available for lenses with 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, or 82mm front filter threads. After being fitted onto an adapter ring, the filter holder’s push-pull locking pin helps to provide a reliable, yet adjustable connection that allows the holder to be rotated 360°, permitting the use of neutral density, graduated neutral density and other filters. A locking screw next to the Nisi 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder V2-II’s locking pin ensures that the grip on an adapter ring remains secure.
Please note: A Filter adapter ring is required to mount on the lens. Sold separately.
Neutral Density Filters
The NiSi 100x100 Nano IR Neutral Density 10 stop filter is ideal for landscape & seascape photographers who want a slow shutter speed when shooting during the day. This filter can be used in both the V5 and V2-II filter holders. This filter is a MUST HAVE for all landscape/seascape photographers. The NiSi 70x80mm Nano IR Neutral Density 10 stop filter is also available which is only suitable for the M1 holder.
To convey movement in an image this filter will give an exposure that will capture smooth water seascapes or soft streaky clouds in landscapes. The rear of the filter has a seal to prevent unwanted light from entering the lens when attached. This filter must always be used in the first slot closest to the lens and should be the last filter added before making the exposure as you will not be able to compose or focus once attached. For those that want an even longer exposure you may want to consider the NiSi 100x100 Nano IR Neutral Density 15 stop "Super Stopper" filter or even the NiSi 100x100 Nano IR Neutral Density 20 stop "Black Hole" filter.
Another essential filter is the NiSi 100x100mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter – ND64 (1.8) – 6 Stop. This filter can be used in both the V5 and V2-II filter holders and is also useful for landscape and seascape photographers who shoot in low light such as around sunrise or sunset but don't need as long an exposure as the 10 stop filter provides. Also ideal for shooting waterfalls where 10 stops can make the exposure too long. The rear of the filter also has a seal to prevent unwanted light from entering the lens when attached. The NiSi 70x80mm Nano IR Neutral Density 6 stop filter is also available which is only suitable for the M1 holder. At a pinch this filter can also be used in combination with the 10 stop filter giving you a 16 stop reduction in light and a very long exposure although you may want to consider using the NiSi 100x100mm Nano IR Neutral Density 15 stop Super Stopper or the NiSi 100x100mm Nano IR Neutral Density 20 stop Black Hole to reduce the amount of filters in front of the lens. For shorter exposures you may want to consider the NiSi 100x100mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter – ND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop.
Please Note : These filters are also available in 70x80mm, 150x150mm and 180x180mm in 3,6 & 10 stop strengths.
Graduated Neutral Density Filters
Soft Graduated Neutral Density Filters
The NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR "Soft" Graduated Neutral Density Filter - ND4 (0.6) – 2 Stop, the ND8 (0.9) - 3 stop and the ND16 (1.2) - 4 stop filters can be used in both the V5 and V2-II filter holders and are also compatible with other 100mm Standard Filter Holders such as Lee, Cokin Z-Pro or Formatt Hitech. They are primarily used by landscape photographers to balance the light between the bright sky and the darker foreground. They are available in 2, 3 & 4 stop strengths. These filters have a soft and more of a gradual gradation which is perfect for scenes where objects protude into the scene above the horizon such as when shooting a mountains or a seascape where a headland interrupts the horizon. When used in combination with a Neutral Density Filter the Graduated Filters should be positioned first and placed in the second slot. If used without a Neutral Density filter use the first slot closest to the lens. Adjust the filter up and down until the desired effect is achieved. The NiSi 70x100mm Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density Filter – GND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is also available which is only suitable for the M1 holder.
TIP: These filters are glass (not resin) and therefore are quite easy to break if dropped. If combining the Graduated Neutral Density Filter with a Neutral Density Filter we suggest you always position your Graduated Neutral Density Filter in the second slot of the holder first. Then remove the holder from the lens, insert the Neutral Density Filter into the first slot of the holder, and re-attach the filter holder to the lens.
Medium Graduated Neutral Density Filters
The NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR "Medium" Graduated Neutral Density Filter - ND4 (0.6) – 2 Stop, the ND8 (0.9) - 3 stop and the ND16 (1.2) - 4 stop filters can be used in both the V5 and V2-II filter holders and are also compatible with other 100mm Standard Filter Holders such as Lee, Cokin Z-Pro or Formatt Hitech.
Hard Graduated Neutral Density Filters
The NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR Hard Graduated Neutral Density Filter - GND8 (0.9) - 3 Stop and NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR Hard Graduated Neutral Density Filter - GND4 (0.6) - 2 Stop are similar to the above filters with the exception that they are Hard Grads. This means that the gradation at the horizon is much more abrupt making them ideal for shots with an unbroken horizon. A handy filter however would probably not be used as often as the Soft and Medium Grad filters. The NiSi 70x100mm Nano IR Hard Graduated Neutral Density Filter – GND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is also available which is only suitable for the M1 holder.
Please Note : These filters are also available in 150x170mm however only the 3 & 4 stop Hard/Soft are available in 180x210mm.
Reverse Neutral Density Soft Graduated Filters
The NiSi 100x150mm Reverse Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density Filter – ND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop and ND16 (1.2) – 4 Stop filters are particularly useful at sunset and sunrise as the Neutral Density portion of the filter is concentrated around the centre of the filter. This will allow you to reduce exposure in the brightest part of the scene along the horizon without affecting the foreground or sky. The NiSi 70x100mm Nano IR Reverse Graduated Neutral Density Filter – GND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is also available which is only suitable for the M1 holder.
Please Note : Only the 3 stop is available in 150x170mm and 180x210mm.
Horizon Neutral Density Filter
The NiSi 100x150mm Horizon Neutral Density Filter – ND16 (1.2) – 4 Stop is a particularly useful filter when the light is strong and direct, mostly focused in one portion of the frame such as sunrise and sunset.
Natural Night Filter (Light Pollution Filter)
NiSi 100x100mm Natural Night Filter (Light Pollution Filter). Between mercury vapour, sodium, Low CRI streetlights, there are many undesirable wavelengths of light that pollute the night sky. The glow from these can keep your camera from seeing the sky properly and effect your night images. Because of this, NiSi has created the Natural Night Filter to block the most common wavelengths of light pollution.
If you want to capture high quality landscapes or seascapes that are beautifully exposed and easy to edit then good quality filters are the best way to achieve this.
NiSi Filters also produces a range of round threaded filters which will fit lenses from 52mm to 82mm. These include -
- UV Filters
- UV Pro Filters
- Protector Filters
- Neutral Density Filters
- Graduated Neutral Density Filters
- Polarising Filters
