Welcome to the CSCSHC Community Newsletter. This bimonthly publication is intended to keep you up-to-date with all that is happening in and around the school district. We want to share all the great things our staff and students are doing in our classrooms and community. We look forward to sharing our stories of student success, achievement, participation in arts and athletics, and a commitment to philanthropy. We are "New Pal Proud" of our students for achieving their personal best in pursuit of excellence!
Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to another wonderful school year at Southern Hancock! Thank you to our teachers, staff members, and administrators for all of their hard work over the summer to prepare our district for this school year. We are glad to have students back in our classrooms for another wonderful year!
Thank you to all of our parents for their understanding and participation in our new pick up and drop off procedures for 2018-19. We've had a great start in implementing these new procedures. Your cooperation helps us get you back on your way quickly and helps our buses move freely, which keeps our ride times down. Thanks for a great start to our school year.
Finally, good luck to all of our fall extra and co-curricular activities kicking off a new season! Go Dragons!
Shepler Field Renovations
Shepler Field is finally ready! Please join us tonight for the NPHS football's team scrimmage against Scecina at 7:30 p.m. The Dragons will also be home the next two Fridays against Kokomo and Center Grove. We hope you can come check out our incredible new facility. Thank you to everyone who worked so tirelessly to make this project a reality!
TRAFFIC NOTE: For anyone attending tonight's scrimmage, please use the entrance off Gem Rd (500W). Please do not use the US 52 NPHS entrance.

H.O.S.T.S. Volunteers Needed
CSCSHC is excited to continue and expand our volunteer reading tutor program, H.O.S.T.S.
Research shows that one-on-one tutoring makes an impact. Come make a difference in a child’s life by being a one-on-one reading tutor for just one hour per week! H.O.S.T.S. meets Monday through Thursday during the school year from 8:50 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at New Palestine Elementary and Tuesday through Friday 11:05 a.m until 12:20 p.m. at Sugar Creek Elementary.
Mentors work on reading skills with one second-grade student and one third-grade student for 30 minutes each. All materials are provided and no training is necessary. Mentors choose which day of the week and how often they mentor. Mentors can also choose to be a substitute only. Ask any mentor from previous years and they will tell you it is an experience you won’t forget!
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please email Teresa LeBeau at SCE at firstname.lastname@example.org or Kendra Olin at NPE at email@example.com.
If you still have questions regarding your bus information or bus stop, our transportation staff is happy to help. Please call our transportation office at 861-4654.
