Our Habitat Project Mrs. Samples's class

The Worm's Habitat

We constructed our habitats for the earthworms. We modeled them after the layers of soil by using different materials.

Then we began preparing food for our earthworms.

We used fresh apple cut very small. We put the food on the top of the habitat and watched to see what the earthworm would take to their burrow.

We also used dead leaves, orange and grapefruit peels. The earthworms really liked what we prepared.

Now it is time to do some research on earthworms.

We got our earthworm and began to learn about it's body and how to handle it.

We recorded the information in our Science journals.

We had fun learning about them.

We investigated how the earthworms would react to light. We found out they didn't like the light.
Earthworm Tellagami

We made a couple of Tellagami's with information about our earthworms to share with second grade.

Second grade came to visit fourth grade after mass on Friday. We showed them our Tellagami's.

We had our Science journals out with all the information we had learned and recorded.

We showed them how to handle the earthworm.

Helped them see the earthworms blood vessel.

We were able to answer all their questions.

We had a lot of fun and so did second grade.

We had a great week learning about our earthworms!
