Situation: Woodforde House has a truly idyllic location being set in the village of Batcombe which is one of the many pretty villages in this part of Somerset and it is made even more desirable by the fact that it is well away from main roads, set amongst rolling hills and tree lined valleys. This unspoilt valley is rightly designated a Conservation Area, though the house and gardens have the advantage of being unlisted in terms of prospective house improvement or extension. Although a very quiet location, Batcombe is an active village with an excellent public house which organises village events, a smart and busy village hall that does cinema nights, a lovely village playground and a stunning village church.
Local shopping can be found at the new "Notting Hill" also known as Bruton town (about 2 miles away ) that has the renowned "At the Chapel" restaurant and cafe, several other restaurants and cafes, numerous independent shops and the world-famous Hauser and Wirth Gallery.
