Beyond Sports Professional Development & Summer Internship Program for University of South Carolina Student-Athletes

The Beyond Sports Professional Development & Internship Program, launched in 2017, assists student-athletes in future success outside the fields of competition by giving them real-world experiences in their academic interests. – Ray Tanner, University of South Carolina Athletics Director

The primary goal of the program is to facilitate professional development programming, in conjunction with paid internships, in order to best prepare Gamecocks for life beyond college. Participation in the program provides student-athletes with an enhanced resume and increased professional network, in addition to helping build skills necessary to succeed after their playing career is over.

Official Sponsor for the Beyond Sports Program

Founders Federal Credit Union, established in 1950, works with community partners across North and South Carolina to ensure financial security. This organization prides themselves on providing better rates, family-oriented customer service and giving back to the community. The South Carolina Gamecocks have been sponsored by Founders Federal Credit Union for several years. In addition to an athletics-wide sponsorship, Founders is home to our Gamecock baseball team, as the name of the stadium was officially changed to "Founders Park" in 2015.

Founders Federal Credit Union has continued its commitment to the Gamecocks by becoming the official naming sponsor of the Beyond Sports Program. The Founders name will be displayed throughout program materials and publications, but more importantly the organization plays an active role in assisting student-athletes with professional development education related to financial literacy and job readiness.

About Founders Federal Credit Union: The credit union, one of the largest and most innovative in the nation, was founded in 1950 in Fort Mill, South Carolina to provide financial services to the employees of Springs Industries, Inc.
