Celebrating Canada (150 years) BY: kRYSTAL PERSAUD

Free Healthcare

Canada's healthcare system is a health insurance plan that provides coverage for all Canadian Citizens. The health care system provides preventative care and medical treatments from primary care physicians and additional medical services. Canada's health care starting date was July 1st, 1998. The federal government paid half of the Medicare costs in any province with insurance plans that met the requirements of being universal, publicly administered, and comprehensive.

The poutine was first invented in Quebec, Ontario in the 1950's. It originated from a restaurant formerly called "Le Lutin qui rit in Warwick". It is a Canadian dish that's made with french fries and cheese curds smothered in gravy for more flavor.

Connections

I feel as though, all 3 of these features are important to me and many other people in Canada. Free healthcare is important a lot of us Canadian citizens because not many people can afford healthcare services due to not having jobs, being homeless, or maybe even retirement. Poutines may not be as important to some of us, but I believe poutines are important to me because it is one of my favourite foods and it symbolizes Canada. Drake is important to not only me but a lot of his fans/supporters. He is an empowering celebrity that has been a great role-model to many young teens. Many people in Canada and all over the world look up to him especially younger kids (11-17 years old) and his music. He has a great impact n the music industry which also how he has become famous.
