So I finally decided to take that Wagon trip into Santanoni. I have loved visiting the entrance, the Santanoni Gatehouse, and I even had the audacity to imagine it was probably the finest part of the whole Great Camp experience.
Newcombe Farm takes visitors into Santanoni every summer and fall. And the ride alone is enjoyable enough to make the whole trip worthy.
And then we arrived at the Farm. I had seen pictures of the former barn and the ruins left from the devastating fire. The Creamery and Farmers Cottage remain and are lovely. I could only imagine how awesome it must have been to live and work there. It certainly wouldn't feel like the servitude it implied.
And just when I was feeling so very satisfied, we arrived at the Great Camp Santanoni.
I spatially connected with the visionary who created this glorious place so many generations ago, for I had just looked thru the window into his soul. It reflected my own personal vision of what luxurious living in the wilderness of the Adirondacks must have been like. It gave me a renewed reverence for the "Great Camps" of the Adirondacks and this "Great Camp Santanoni" was far greater than I had ever imagined.
