Birds, Cruise Ship, and a Sunset from Skyway North Fishing Pier Photography by Robert Neff

Oct. 15, 2016. Bridge walking is one of my past-times. Where else can I have have panoramic views, birds, boats, cruise ships and interesting weather? Tampa Bay has several bridges to walk and most can be found in St. Petersburg, and from St. Pete Beach to Clearwater. Tonight, I was there for an hour walk to capture the birds and activity before the Carnival Paradise went under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

This bird was not able to follow the others walking down the cement guard rails. Both feet were damaged. Glad to see the bird was able to adjust.

Royal Tern.

Egrets cannot get their wings wet nor can they float or dive like pelicans. This egret was living dangerously.

Both the Skyway North and South Fishing Piers have a toll to get out there. The cost is $3.21 to sightsee. The fishing pass is $8, which covers the fishing license.

I enjoy watching the weather. Tonight, I was surrounded by several storm cells.

The Carnival Paradise normally leaves the Port of Tampa around 4 PM. The journey from the port to the bridge takes about two hours and thirty minutes.

The cruise ship was delayed and did not arrive until 6:51 PM.

The sport fishing boat is about to pass the cruise ship!

The Carnival Paradise is heading for Cozumel!

All I had to do was walk to the other side of the end of the pier to catch the sunset behind Fort DeSoto.

Sunset was at 7:01 PM.

Enjoy the 20 second time lapse of the weather passing over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The cruise ship passes under at the end.

Enjoy more stories and images of what I get to enjoy everyday!

I had just spent two days photographing Venice and boarded the train for Milan for another two days of travel photography. After I found my seat, I was sound asleep before we left the station.
