Field Medical Kit

Due to commonly being shot at and getting wounded you would need a medical kit to help others and yourself. Also if you work in the reserve line you need as many as you can get to help everyone back out on the battle field. Not only can the enemies hurt you but also if any rodents get to you in the resting quarters which can hive diseases and bites(Jones).

Commonly used to dig the trench you'd be staying in but the Entrenching Tool has other uses. It is also used for digging the graves for the diseased of you squadron. It can also be used as a weapon if you trench is being attacked form the inside of it you can use it to hit, jab, and slice at the opponent("Entrenching Tool").

Gas Mask

Due to the new discovery of poisonous gases the gas mask came in handy quite often as you could avoid the problems after receiving the deadly gases. There's a lot more uses for it such as if you don't want to deal with the stench in the trench you can wear it and not worry. Also if you have to help those who are wounded on the field but someone just threw some mustard gas you can go up and try to get them and bring them back("Gas Mask")

Bayonet

During the war everyone was given a bayonet and it was for a good reason as you could uses it for self defense. It can also be used to help dig the trench by loosening the dirt. It can also be used as a tool when done carefully and if completely necessary and a last resort("Bayonet")

When on the field your gun is one of the most important things to have as in any circumstance it can save your life. It can also be used as defense against pushing enemies. It is also a good area for the bayonet to go so if you can't shoot you have a last resort("World War I").
