Summer Camps 2016 Ambassadors football summer camps & football schools

Summer Football Schools 2016

In the summer of 2016 Ambassadors Football ran 61 Football Schools in partnership with 63 churches across the world. We had over 3600 children attend the weeks who were coached in football and in life. At the heart of every Football School is our desire to serve the local church and community in excellence, to help the children improve their football ability and share our faith in Jesus. We saw 40 children respond to faith openly during the weeks and 4 families share a desire to start attending church regularly.

We were blessed to have over 600 volunteers helping with our football schools. They were a vital part of the week long experience. These volunteers came from many different countries. All had some form of training before embarking on their football school experience. They have now seen the impact of football outreach and return to their own communities with the training and experience to share the message of Jesus through football.

We love Football Schools and the opportunities they bring. Thank you for your partnership and prayers!

Quotes / Stories

Players

“After John* attended an Ambassadors football school he wanted to attend Sunday School with his friends and pestered his mum Fiona* until she brought him to church. She was keen to teach Zumba so we sponsored her to train and a large number of women from our church attended her class. After a while she became a Christian and was baptised locally in public with many family and neighbours attending - including her estranged partner, John's dad David*. Fiona and David began dating again and a year later they were married with a blessing in our packed church. A wonderful testimony to the power of transformed lives.” Church Leader

“One kid named Barrett came the first day and did not realize he was signed up to stay for the whole day. He wanted to go home and be with his mom. I talked with his mom and sorted it out. The next day he came back and his mom came to pick him up and he was all upset because he wanted to stay for the whole day. What a turnaround! Reminded me of this scripture, "the joy of the Lord is our strength!"

“Great camp, well organized, I had a great time and coaches from abroad were very friendly.” (Prague City Camp)

“The bit I like best about the football schools are the bible times”

“My name is Rikesh Maharjan. My life has changed after joining Ambassadors, my attitude and character has been formed, got many Christian friends now, learned to control my anger, trust in God more. It has motivated and changed my life from being a carefree person to a responsible and praying person.”

“Nathan* was from another faith. He was quite unruly during camp and did bad things to get attention. By the end of camp many of us had talked to him and demonstrated unconditional love. He settled down by the end of camp and even participated in Bible study despite believing in another faith.”

“Roberto (10) came with his dad to work on the first day of Soccer Camp at Santa Fe Christian School since his dad is the groundsman at the school. He asked if his son could attend the camp and after two days Roberto decided to be part of Gods team.”

“Best week of the summer!”

Parents

"This week was the best week of camp ever!! My kids could not wait to get up in the morning and come!"

“I appreciate the professionality and willingness of the organizers, the atmosphere on the camp was great, my son looked forward to every camp day and we look forward the next year.” (Prague City Camp)

“I am a parent who had 2 boys at the Ambassadors for football scheme this summer in Belfast. The week long training event was brilliant and so well organised. Staff were superb and encouraged the boys (who are 7 and 10) so much with their football. Equally important is how they combined religion and good Christian messages for all the children to consider and think about. They took these messages away with them and I hope it makes them think about their faith and to be good kids. Great job, great tournament, great staff and we all came away from Ambassadors of Football feeling better. Can't wait to go next year.” Brian Murtagh (This is from an unsaved parent in Belfast.)

“It has been very helpful for my child because there aren't many opportunities for the children and thank you for creating one for the children.”

“Many parents thanked us for a great camp. One parent in particular let her daughter play even though she has had many operations on her head. She was an eager participant and her Mom really appreciated the spiritual part of camp!”

“Because of this camp I know I should get my son involved in church since you have shown me as coaches what it means to really love my son”

“We travel from Mexico City and stay at a hotel this week just so my two kids can come to your camp. We would be willing to come every day for club training except that it is a 3 hour drive each way with traffic to Puebla.”

Church

"This is the highlight of our year!" Urban Inner city church

"You guys did such an amazing job this week! Thanks for using soccer to reach the community with the gospel."

“Thank you for partnering so that we can continue going out into the community and telling people about Jesus.”

“Our Ambassadors week was one of the best we've had yet for the following reasons 1) A team of enthusiastic, humble, passionate coaches came along and got stuck in to the mission here in Ballysally. 2) The organisation and attention to detail of the youth sessions was as good as it has been yet. 3) Derek's thoughtful, considerate leadership of the team was a blessing for us to partner alongside. 3) Speakers who came in such as Roy Walker were some of the best we have had to date. Keep looking to Him who can do 'immeasurably more than we can think or imagine.” (Eph 3:20) Dave Caldwell Community Youth Worker

“Pastor Bob was thrilled with the camp and said that now he understands how effective sports ministry can be!”

“We wrapped up our first ever Ambassadors Soccer Camp in Prosser (WA) and had an incredible experience with your organization. Zach and his team did an amazing job of representing the Lord and the Ambassadors family...Thanks for your help with this and everything that you have done to help us bring the light of Christ to the Lower Valley of Washington!"

Coach

Andoni: One of the coaches came from Puebla, Mexico. A recent convert who had been challenged to become a follower of Christ through the Ambassadors ministry based in Puebla. After becoming involved in volunteering to coach for the teams we run there, Andoni applied to join the camps in the U.S.

Throughout the camps, he was challenged to grow in his faith as he worked through presenting the Gospel in his second language. In the final camp, he was assigned to a camp we run in Painesville, OH. 90% of the children who attend that camp come from Mexican families. Andoni was able to share the Gospel in his native language & the impact on him was tremendous.

Upon returning home, Phil Cabildo, Ambassadors Mexico director, told me that Andoni couldn't stop talking about how the summer had transformed him. How God had worked in & through him. His testimony has inspired several young men to get involved in the ministry in Puebla as well as plan to attend the U.S. camps to be envisioned & trained like Andoni.
