Flu Vaccine Clinic

Save the Date! A Flu shot clinic will be at West Oak on Oct. 24th from 12 pm to 5 pm. A link to an online scheduler will be sent out early next week. If you have any questions, email Sue at West Oak.

It's National Family Meals Month!

So gather around the dinner table. Here are some healthy recipes websites to inspire you to cook healthy for your family.

Common Bytes- www.commonbytes.org This website has computer games the kids can play and teach about food and nutrition. It has grant opportunities that you can apply for your classroom. It also has some yummy recipes for family meals.

American Heart Association- https://healthyforgood.heart.org This website has a bunch of information about healthy living, nutrition and physical activity. There is also a section on healthy recipes.

Wisconsin School Gardens- www.wischoolgardens.org This website also has a great newsletter. There are recipes, grant opportunities and professional development available for teachers and the community.

Wellness Activities

Hearing and Vision Screenings- The nurses at each school will be screening students throughout September and October.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile- September 27th- Advocate Children's Hospital Care Mobile will be at West Oak School completing physical exams and giving immunizations to students who have no insurance or Medicaid. For more information, contact your nurse or health clerk.

Wellness Activities

Diamond Dash is on Oct. 6th at West Oak Middle School. Join in for all the fun activities and raise some money for our PTO. Check in starts at 4:30pm. Activities will start at 5 pm.

Smile Dentist is coming to Diamond Lake and West Oak on Oct. 12th and to Fairhaven on Oct. 13th. We all will have sparkling teeth!

The Great Apple Crunch is Oct. 12th! Stevenson High School students will again be leading all schools in apple crunching during lunches.

Top Box Foods and Someone's Treasure Community Closet - Oct. 14th The closet will open at 12:00 pm and the Top Box Food Truck will be at West Oak at 2:30pm to 3:30 pm. Chef Lindsey will be doing a food demonstration using the produce box items to make healthy dishes for your family. Stop by and join in the fun.

GCN Trainings- Don't forgot your trainings are due on Oct. 15th!

Staff CPR/AED and First Aid class will be on Oct. 18th at West Oak from 3:45 pm to 7 pm. A google form has been sent to staff members to sign up for the class. Email Sue to make sure you are on the list.

For all staff members who have the District Health Insurance, good news! Whether you’re at home or traveling, access to an independently contracted, board-certified MDLIVE doctor is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can speak to a doctor immediately or schedule an appointment based on your availability. Virtual visits can also be a better alternative than going to the emergency room or urgent care center.

Based on your location, get the care you need for many non-emergency medical conditions over the phone, mobile app or online video1. Behavioral Health consultations may also be available with your plan.

Registering for a Virtual Visits is easy. Log in to your Blue Access for MembersSM account and select the Virtual Visits link in the My Coverage Benefits box. The complete the registration steps on MDLIVE’s website. Once you are registered you will be able to search for a provider using your virtual visits account.

You can also visit mdlive.com/bcbsil to register and setup a virtual visit.
