hic manebimus optime. here we will stay excellently.

GA, I choose you.

The General Academics strand is a part of the Academic Track of the K-12 educational system. It does not have a single specialization, but instead offers students the chance to choose from the applied courses of other strands. According to the Department of Education, this strand has two humanities courses, a social science course, applied economics, organization & management, disaster readiness & risk reduction, research, and any two electives from other strands.

It’s the strand of diversity. It’s the strand of uncertainty. It’s the strand of choice.

People think that GA limits you, but it’s actually the other way around. In this strand, people are able to select their preferred courses, because let’s face it, not everyone is sure of exactly what they want to be or to do in the future. The GA strand does not confine its students to a single way of thinking, but allows them to explore any field they wish to dive into.

IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR THE GA STRAND TO BE CALLED "PATAPON" OR BASIC. IN FACT, MOST OF US ARE ALREADY USED TO BE BEING CALLED AS SUCH, INCLUDING OTHER NEGATIVE COMMENTS. HOWEVER, WE KNOW THAT THIS DOES NOT DECREASE OUR WORTH, AND IN FACT WE ARE PROUD THAT A LOT OF OUR STRANDMATES ARE NOT ONLY EXCELLING IN ACADEMICS, BUT OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL AS WELL.

An example would be our UAAP Juniors basketball team that is composed of 8 GA students. SJ Belangel of 11-Brebeuf, Amchel Angeles, Jason Credo, Joaqui Mendoza and Migo Santos of 11-Campion, Dave Ildefonso of 11-Chabanel, RV Berjay of 11-De Brito and Allen Tanedo of 11-Favre.

Another is our Taekwondo team. Last June, Austine Dy of 11-Favre won bronze in the junior female division of the National Poomsae Championship, while Jennica Santos from 11-De Brito won silver in the Quezon City District Meet. In the Quezon City Athletics Association, the boys were declared over-all champions, with Diego Montes of 11-Favre and Amiel Baradi of 11-Brebeuf winning gold and Andrei Bautista from 11-Brebeuf won bronze.

The GA strand also takes pride in our girls swimming team. Five out of six are from GA. Moreover, they placed 4th in the UAAP this year. Sarah Alvina of 11-De Brito won bronze in the 100m breastroke, while Suzanne Himor hauled one gold, two silvers, a bronze and set a new record for the 200m butterfly in the girls' division. Other members of the swimming team that came from the GA strand are Louise Saavedra and Bea Zamora from 11-Chabanel and Raffi Antig from 11-De Brito.

Julia Ocoma of 11-Favre together with junior high school student Matti Tan won against 60 teams in the Asian Schools British Parliamentary Debate Championship, and will represent the Philippines and Asia in the Cambridge Schools Debate Competition.

Alpheus Llantero from 11-De Brito won third place in the prestigious Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, English Kabataan Essay category last 2016.

The GA strand is usually said to be "magulo", because it is the strand where the people are most different from each other; here people have the most different personalities and different interests. It is not only your options that will be open in this strand, but as well as your mind. You will meet and understand people you never thought you'd encounter, and learn to love things you once ignored.

the choice is yours.
