Stay Creative! Origami WITH THE ASIAN AMERICAN RESOURCE CENTER

What is Origami?

Origami is the art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures. You can use origami to create people, animals, buildings, vehicles, and more!

in order to learn about the history of origami, it is important to learn about the history of paper! After paper was invented in China, paper-making began to spread, and once paper had arrived in two particular countries, Korea and Japan, paper folding began. However, origami was not what we know it to be today. Ideas were not as creative back then since origami was only used for important ceremonies, such as funerals.
This is an example of the countless creative and complex paper figurines you can create using origami!
