A RURAL life The LIght Laughed

Get up early

Drive,

Not far...but to where your heart calls you to be

Then

Drive back

To retrieve the camera card

Scenery beautiful both ways

Road open to possibilities

Stand

At the foot of the mountains, watching the river sweep past

FEEL

Small

Compared to such a giant landscape, and know how good that is

Hear

Geese honking at the ducks, disturbed by their quarreling

The sound of feathers sifting through air as landings are made

Splashes of webbed feet crashing and cracking the smooth water of the river

Watch the leaves

As they falter, hesitate, spending those final moments tethered to half bare branches, wavering in their decision to

let go

flutter

fall

Feel the spirit of the wind lifting them as they let go.

Low clouds hug the trees mingle with the branches, caress the left over corn stalks

Pass by the fields turned golden with the riches of Autumn

Weakening as the year ages forward, the determined light streams through the branches,

Laughing

Sparkling

Return home

Changed

Like the season.
