Taiga cordillera
This is my project on the taiga cordillera Eco zone and it will talk about location and area, landforms, vegetation, climate, wildlife, soil, main bodies of water, main industries, energy sources, transportation, environmental issues, largest communities, Total population and the importance to Canada.
Location and area
The location of the taiga eco zone border is between the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. The area is 254,2134 square kilometres.
Landforms
The landforms in taiga cordillera are mostly from the range on narrow valleys to the mountainous terrain
Vegetation
The main types of vegetation are a long the lines of lichens, sedges and mosses and they also have very large flowers that grow there.
Climate
The climate range for taiga is extremely cold in the winter a average of -22 c , and in the the summer months they have short cool summers a average of 8 c.
Wildlife
The wildlife in taiga has is mostly sheep, caribou, wolverines, golden eagle, mountain goats, grizzly bears and birds
Soil
The soil in taiga has a very high acid content which means it is very infertile very few plant can grow there because of the acid content
Main bodies of water
The main bodies of in Taiga cordillera are great bear and great slave lake.
Main industries
Main industries I found in taiga was the oil and the mining industrie mostly because of the mountainous terrain and the low valleys in this ecozone.
Energy sources
The main Sources that they use are solar and hydro-electric (solar for the sun and hydro-electric for the water)
Transportation
The main types of transportation they would use plane, boat, car, and walking to get all around this Eco zone.
Environmental issue
The environment issue in this Eco zone is that animals are going extinction and than people have done a lot
Largest communities
That largest city is the Eco zone Taiga cordillera is Old crow.
Total population
The total population in this Eco zone for different years is 1981 had a population of 563, in 2001 370, 2006 411.
Importance to Canada
The importance it has to Canada is the oil, mining and the trapping industrie without this we would not have the oil and the mining.
In conclusion there is a lot to learn about all of Canada's Eco zones and I am glad that I got to learn about this one.
