The United States Department of Homeland Security is a cabinet department of the United States federal government with responsibilities in public security of the United States. Its stated missions involve anti-terrorism, border security, immigration and customs, cyber security, and disaster prevention and management. Any attack on the US is a homeland security issue. This department was created in response to the September 11 attacks that rocked the nation. Now it is a major part of the US's safety. The head of the Department of Homeland Security now is John F. Kelly as of January 20, 2017. Their headquarters are located in the White House in DC.
The Department of Homeland Security idea was founded after the September 9/11 attacks. Americans needed more safety from threats around the world.
This is John F. Kelly the new secretary for the Department of Homeland Security. He got appointed to this position by President Trump. He has been head of this department since January 20, 2017.
These are different things that the Department does other that keep our country safe. They do different operations to rescue people who need help. And help bring in more legal immigrants.
Here some defense personnel monitor the screens for any cyber attack. They can come from any part of the world. So these people have to be ready for everything.
The Homeland Security special team are very cautious. Because they are moveing into the apartment of the Boston marathon bombing suspect.
