Snapshot 7 APRIL 2017

Dear friends

As the serious leadership crisis in our country plays itself out, we are worried. Who would not be? During our worship service on Sunday I asked God to give me something to say to you and the Lord brought this passage to mind.

Psalm 20:7 - "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Another passage comes to mind: 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place."

Note both of these passages makes one thing clear: the outcome of this battle does not lie in the hands of politicians or in a powerful family. God is ultimately in charge. God invites us to be part of the solution. Note especially the phrase "if my people". Translated if you and I who believe in Jesus could channel our concerns in God's direction and speak to him about it God will hear and heal our land. Lets not just pray for a comfortable situation for ourselves but let us pray for the healing of our divided, broken land. Lets pray boldly for godly leaders.

To this end we are taking a group of people to pray together with a million others on the 22 April. We'd love you to join us! Click below to find out more.

Lets take our concerns to the one who can and promises to make a difference if we will call out to Him

Don't miss a special time this Sunday morning as guest Worship Pastor, Janine Price, spends the morning with us at Eastside. Janine will be leading worship, ministering on 'The Father Heart of God' and spending some time sowing into our Worship Team after the service.

CONGRATULATIONS DAVE & GINA BOTHA

Big 'congrats' to Dave & Gina on their marriage yesterday. It is always very special as a church when we get to celebrate the union of two young people who have been a big part of the life at Eastside. To make it that extra bit special, this was the first wedding officiated by Jason, who has been a close friend of Dave's since their 'Boys High days. As a church we celebrate with them - remember to pray that God would increase His blessing upon them as they start a life together.

Eastside School finished the term with a special Easter service. What Christ did, for me and for you, was because of His big love us. Children were able to stick their name on the crosses, acknowledging and thanking Jesus for His big love for them, for the cross which is for them! We celebrate with 12 lives who chose to followJesus on this day!

The end of a season... the start of another

If you missed this past Sunday morning service you would have missed an important announcement from our very special Children's Pastor, Robyn Ball...

"What a privilege to have served this church for seven and a half years. Steven and I have decided that my time in full time ministry is coming up to an end. I love the work that God has called me to do, but He has also been stirring my heart that this season of full time ministry is coming to an end. Eastside is our home and we won't be leaving Eastside, and I'll certainly keep on serving Children's ministry here at Eastside but in a different capacity."

Robyn will be missed but still has about 6 months on the Pastoral team. Let us commit as a church to pray for Robyn and Steven as they transition to a new season, and that God would provide a new pastor for us to fill the shoes that will be left by Robyn so that God will be glorified as we continue to reach children with the gospel of Jesus.
