Enrichment Day January 13th

We are excited to be going off timetable on Monday and enriching the learning of the pupils with some exciting activities.

  • Year 5 we will be having a dragonology day- looking at the life of a famous dragonolgist, then creating our own dragon factfiles, artwork, instructions etc. Basically, doing all things dragon-based!
  • Year 4 are off to the Verulamium museum in St Albans for the day to explore what life was like for Romans and how the Roman's have influenced Britain today. It will be an action packed day with a museum tour, handling of artefacts and exploration of historical sites. We are hoping for dry weather!
  • Year 3 are doing a WOW Greek day with a mini Olympics and some Greek crafts
  • Year 2 are having a day of Art, studying the styles of four famous artists
  • Year 1 are having a day of Art, studying the styles of four famous artists
  • Reception will be learning about keeping healthy. We will do some healthy cooking, some fruit tasting, some exercise, some rest and have a visit from a Doctor. We will be talking about how all these things help to keep us healthy. Hygiene will also run as a theme throughout.

Crazy 4 Kids will be offering holiday club to all children at Malcolm Arnold Prep School 17th – 21st February 7:45am-6:00pm with lots of fun activities planned. This will be held at Hardingstone academy. We will also be advertising the club to families in the wider area who do not attend MAPS school. Bookings are now being taken and the club is subject to demand, bookings can be made via the office Tel: 01536 680101 or email info@crazy4kids.co.uk . If parents have not already registered their children for holiday club/wrap round care they can visit www.crazy4kids.co.uk to complete an online admission form. Price list available on request.

Scooters: Santa has obviously been very generous with all the new scooters on display - however - please can pupils not ride scooters inside the school gates and in the car park. There is so much going on and we are keen to prevent any possible accidents. Thank you

Welcome: to Zara Gamble who is our new Senior Admin guru in the office. Please be extra nice to her as she learns the ropes!

  • 17 January - KS1
  • 24 January - KS2
  • Alternating thereafter.
Provisional dates for next academic year.

Choir: we are now running Choir on Fridays 3.30-4.30 with our new fab choir master Justin Miller (St Matthews). We are expecting some fantastic singing. If you are in Year 3-5 and would like to join, please let the office know asap.

The first meeting this year of your PTA, the Friends Of MAPS, will be held on Monday, January 13th, from 6:30pm in the MAPS Staff Room. Please come along if you'd like to be involved.

Reports: Just in case you missed them: we published reports through My Child At School and sent these out by email on the 13th of December. To view your child's report please click on the report section on your MCAS app or check your junk box on your emails.
