Church of Christ India Mission Work Borewell Ministry

Greetings from South India!

I am Sunil Raju Gollapalli, Gospel Preacher with the Church of Christ India Mission Work, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, South India. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about one of the gospel works we are doing - our borewell ministry. First, a little background information.

Many of the people living in the remote tribal villages in the state of Andhra Pradesh do not have access to clean drinking water. The villages are located in remote areas away from water sources.

Many of the villages do not have access to borewells. As a result, the villagers living in these areas must walk for miles to obtain clean drinking water for themselves and their families.

The Church of Christ India Mission Work has established congregations in many of these remote tribal villages. We are very concerned that many members of our congregations do not have ready access to clean drinking water and are having to walk miles to get this basic life necessity for themselves and their families. During the summer months, these long trips to get water are especially difficult for the members of our congregations (many of whom are elderly or sick) due to the extremely high summer temperatures- sometimes reaching or exceeding 45 degrees Celsius, or 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

The poor members of our congregations in the tribal villages live in poverty and rely on their faith in God to work through us to provide the basic necessities of life for them. In order to help provide easy access to clean drinking water for the poor Christians in our congregations, we made it part of our mission work to provide borewells to our congregations that need them. Thus, our borewell ministry begins.

To date, we have had borewells drilled in five of our congregations. The first of our congregations to receive a borewell was the congregation at Chikatiegalapalem Village.

The Christians were excited to use the borewell once it was finished. They were thanking God for working through our ministry to provide them easily accessible, clean drinking water. What a blessing it was to them to have their own borewell! They would now no longer have to walk for miles to get water for themselves and their families!

Once this first borewell drilling in the Chikatiegalapalem Village congregation was completed, we were very excited to begin work on a second one. The next borewell to be drilled was for the congregation at Mundruvaripalem village.

Celebrating and thanking God for the provision of clean drinking water for the Mundruvaripalem congregation.

It was during the drilling of the borewell for the Mundruvaripalem congregation that the true and mighty power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was most awesomely displayed. Prior to our drilling, others in this village had tried ten different times to drill a borewell. Each time they drilled, their attempts were unsuccessful in reaching water, even at depths of up to 400 feet. By the Glory and Grace of God, on our very first attempt we reached water at a depth of only 80 feet. All the villagers were amazed and speaking about the mighty power of our God!

The third borewell we drilled was for the congregation at Yanadhi Colony in the Vinukonda area.

The Yanadhi Colony congregation members were very happy to be celebrating the opening of their new borewell which we had drilled for them.

The Mutlakunta congregation in the Vinukonda area received the fourth borewell.

The members of the Mutlakunta congregation were extremely happy to be celebrating and thanking God for the great blessing of their borewell.

We gifted the fifth borewell to the Muthanapalli congregation.

The members of the Muthanapalli congregation were very thankful to God and to us as we celebrated the opening of their borewell.

Thanks be to God that He worked through us to provide these needy congregations with their very own borewells! We give God all the Honor and Glory for His most bountiful blessings to these congregations.

Many thanks to you for taking the time to view and read our borewell ministry story. We feel very blessed to be able to share it with you.
