The Zodiac Killer A serial killer

His crimes took place between December 1968 and October 1969.

He often taunted police in letters, including information only the police know about the murders to guarantee his identity. It was in these letters he called himself “Zodiac”.

The killer once walked post a pair of policemen, away from a murder. Police had been given the description of a black man and so the 5’10” heavily built white man they saw got away.

The San Francisco Police investigated over 2.500 suspects. They finally made the case inactive in 2004, but then reopened it in 2007 due to new evidence.

From 1964 – 1974 he sent over 20 letters often claiming his real name was hidden in the contents. Four of his letters had ciphers. To this day only one has been broken.

He often hunted young couples in secluded spots, killing his victims with a gun and knife. A he Lake Berryessa attack he wore a black executioner’s hood with his circle-cross symbol on it.

This killer has never been caught, nor has ever been identified.

He claims he has killed 37 people, but only 5 have been confirmed and 2 injured by him.
