William Shakespeare born here in 1564, from this property his father ran the family glove making business and later this was where its believed William was to spend the early years of his married life with Anne Hathaway. William inherited the property when his father died in 1601. This house together with Anne Hathaway's cottage have been drawing visitors since the 18th. century when Shakespeare was beginning to be acclaimed as the national bard.
