Rematch for a super bowl bid

The Atlanta Falcons will play their final game in the Georgia Dome against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game. This will be the second time this season the two teams have met, and the third time these franchises have met in the playoffs – Green Bay leads 2-1. The Packers won the last playoff matchup back in 2010, as they beat the Falcons in the Divisional Round 48-21. This will be the fourth time in franchise history Atlanta will play in the conference championship game.

History

This is the fourth time in team history the Falcons have advanced to the NFC Championship game. The last time was in 2012 when the team took on the San Francisco 49ers.

Season stats

The Falcons racked up 422 total yards against the Seahawks. The 422 total yards were the third most yards Seattle gave up all season (including postseason). Also, Atlanta’s 338 passing yards were the most Seattle gave up all season (including postseason).
The defense sacked Seahawks QB Russell Wilson three times, marking the 16th straight game (including postseason) the team has recorded a sack. Atlanta also forced two turnovers during the game. The team has forced 16 turnovers in the last nine games – 11 in the last five games.
The Falcons have four plays of 20+ yards this postseason, which is tied for fifth among qualifying teams.

MVP candidate

Matt Ryan has been to the playoffs more than any other quarterback in franchise history.

He also has the franchise record for most passing yards in the playoffs, as well as passing touchdowns and passer rating. He is the only quarterback in franchise history to make it to the conference championship multiple times.

Jet Jones

He has a franchise record three career touchdown receptions and 372 career receiving yards in the playoffs.
