Daniel Ortega was born, grew up, and ruled in Nicaragua. in 1984 to 1990 he became president of Nicaragua. in the early stages of his life, he became a full-fledged guerilla fighter. Daniel lead the GSLN's urban resistance, as well. Over time, he came to lead the civil-war against the Sadinsta, which resulted in a victory in 1979. Later, he became president of Nicaragua again in 2007 and still currently is president. "Ortega took office in January 2007, and, during his first months as president, it seemed to many that he had carried out his inaugural promises of implementing programs to eliminate hunger and illiteracy among the country's impoverished, of maintaining a free-trade agreement with the united States, and of creating more private-sector jobs." His Economic impact on the country of Nicaragua has changed the country entirely. A couple of examples can be seen by the fact that he used profits from the oil business there to reduce poverty. The poverty rate fell from 42% to 30% from 2009 to 2014. Unemployment fell to 7%.

This shows his ability to maintain his power and authority while also improving the economy in the process. His power and authority status as dictator was maintained through his love for the people of his country, and for that, Daniel could also do things that some other powerful dictator may not have been able to do because of the support from the people. He helped the economy by maintaining a free-trade agreement with the United States. Overall, Daniel Ortega is a good, thorough, just leader who maintains strong and respectable relationships with other countries and handles the economy and his power and authority well.
