William Shakespeare is known as the English national poet. He has written over 30 different plays, and 16 of them were published. His plays captured humans emotions and conflicts. He was both play maker and actor. He lived from 1564 to 1616.

William Shakespeare was born April 23, 1564. He grew up in an old house on Heleny Street in Stratford, England. He was the oldest surviving child that his parents had. He would've had 2 older sisters and 3 older brothers.

William Shakespeare started at age six or seven at the Stratford grammar school. He also was said to attend King Edwards VI grammar school. However, he was removed from school at age 13 due to his fathers financial and social difficulties.

One of Shakespeare's most famous plays is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet was first preformed between 1594 and 1595. The play was first printed in 1597. The setting was Verona and Mantuna in Italy. The play is categorized as a tragedy like most of Shakespeare's plays, and the script had 25,948 words.
William Shakespeare was also known for his play Macbeth. It was first preformed between 1605 and 1606. It was printed in 1623. The setting was was in Scotland and England. The theme of the play was tragedy. In the script there were 18,301 words.
Julius Caesar was another play written by Shakespeare that was published. It was first preformed between 1600 and 1601. It was first printed in 1623. The play took place in Verona and Mantuna in Italy. The theme of the play is tragedy. In the script there were 20,933 words.
William Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616. He is still known today for many of his works, and is taught in most high schools all around the world.
