Band Camp

We were blessed with perfect weather for this year's Band Camp, held annually at Crosslands Convention Centre. Students (Years 3 - 9) came from Wahroonga (the largest contingent!), Hills, MacArthur, Hurstville, Mountain View and Canberra Adventist Schools for three days and two nights to hone their musical skills. Guitars, strings, keyboards, percussion and band instruments were all represented, and three days of focused rehearsal culminated in a concert for parents and friends at Galston Adventist Church on Wednesday evening. Students also enjoyed inspiring worships, great food, fun games, boat rides, bushwalks and Mr Riley's video challenge.

Wahroonga Church Service

On Sabbath, 26th May, students in the Year 1, 2 and 3 - 6 choirs (as well as a few high school students) participated in the Church Service at Wahroonga Adventist Church. The students lead out in praise and worship, special items and conducting the preliminaries. It was lovely to see the students be a blessing to the congregation in this way, a very big thank you to all those students and families who came along on the day.

Parking in the Pick up Line

Just a reminder to not park in the pick up line, as it causes traffic congestion. If you wish to escort your child onto the school grounds you will need to find a space in the car park. Thanks for your understanding!!

Learning Environments Australasia Conference Visit

Last Monday, 28th May, we were chosen to have a site visit from the Learning Environments Australasia Conference, a group made up of architects and educators. They came to view the architecture of the Middle School building and the educational programs that we provide to the students. Even though we are on a small site they were intrigued at how we were able to combine traditional and contemporary teaching styles effectively. The team were very impressed with our school and will most definitely be bringing other groups through in the future.

High School Athletics Carnival - 30th May 2018

On Wednesday the 30th of May, the Athletics Carnival was held for High School. It was an awesome day with great efforts from all students! Fantastic displays of athleticism, team spirit and encouragement we seen throughout the day. Many records were broken from the previous years carnival, which is exciting. Unfortunately the rain descended in the final moments of the day and we were unable to finish off the last round of field events and the house relays. The field events have been rescheduled for next week during sport time on Tuesday. Students who wish to participate in these events will catch a bus at 12 noon on Tuesday and return to Bannockburn Oval to complete the events. Students will return to School by 3:10pm. The final points will be added up after the completion of these events and Age champions and House winners will be announced. Thank you to all who helped out on the day to make it a successful and fun carnival.

CSSA Cross Country - 1st June 2018

CSSA Cross Country took place on Friday June 1st at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. Over 30 students from our school lined up on the day to compete at the event. The students ran between 3 kilometres and 4 kilometres depending on their age bracket. The course started with a flat out sprint section and continued to run up and down the numerous hills covering the Equestrian centre estate. The finish line came after a final lap of the stadium, in front of the crowd of fellow competitors and supporters. All of our students gave their best on the day and represented themselves and our school exceptionally well. Special mentions go to Kanya Young, who showed determination and strength in completing her AWD race. Year 9 student Mason Jeffrey finished with an excellent result, crossing the line in 3rd position - a testament to his hard work and effort, improving on an 11th place finish last year. Year 7 students Jack Baker, Nicholas Bradshaw and Benjamin Woollard finished 8th, 9th and 10th in the final race of the day, an exciting way to finish! A number of our students improved on their results from last year, a great effort all round. Congratulations to all who competed on the day and good luck to those that made it through to the CIS Cross Country event!

The da Vinci Decathlon

Students from Years 5 to 9 did a fantastic job representing our School at the da Vinci Decathlon the week before last. A huge thanks to the parents who helped ferry the students to/from the event, we really appreciate your help and couldn't have done it without you!

"Last Wednesday we went to represent our school at the NSW da Vinci Decathlon, held at Knox Grammar School. The decathlon is a way to exercise academic and creative skills we learn and put them into practice. It also tests our ability to work effectively as a team, and how we can manage our time to successfully complete tasks. Knox's Great Hall was filled with over 1500 people, all representing their schools and ready to give their best. The challenges we covered ranged from Art and Poetry to Mathematics, meaning everyone on the team got a chance to show their strengths. There were 8 of us in our team, and everyone worked together to complete the tasks, and we were really happy with how we performed and represented our school. All in all, we all had a great day, learned some new skills and enjoyed a bit of friendly competition."

It is great to see the students and parents enjoying the outdoors and improving their skills with every ride.
