LaAmistad at Peachtree February 2, 2017

Dear Friends,

It's been another super week at Peachtree all because of you! Because of you our children felt supported and inspired by your unselfish giving.

This week our students were transported into the magical world of imagination during STEAM Wednesday.

It was wonderful to see and HEAR the loud sounds of sweet success and accomplishment of having to work together to take on the challenges presented. We are looking forward to our next S.T.E.A.M Wednesday.

Fourth Grade S.T.E.A.M Success

This week we also took time to say farewell to Mr. Wesley. He and his wife are relocating to the Sunshine state of Florida. We will certainly miss him here at Peachtree and wish him well in his new endeavors.

Mr. Wesley

Forever a TRUE friend of LaAmistad Mr. Wesley

Sight Word Review

The Dolch sight word lists, are located in the Student’s Notebook on pages 13-17. These words should be reviewed each week. Identify the words that students don't know and make flash cards. Incorporate sight word review into your classroom meeting time until students have mastered their grade level Dolch list.

Rule number 3: Bullying

The Energy Bus

The Bullying Rule

We have been reading this book together, our topic of discussion has been bullying. You may want to tune into your students about bullying. What does it look like? How does it feel? How they would respond if they see their classmate being bullied? How can you take action and help stop it?

We believe that each topic covered in the Energy Bus for Kids can truly help our students overcome challenges whenever they apply what they’ve learned to their lives. Make sure that your students understand how each “Rule” in the Energy Bus for Kids can help them.

Remind your children that LaAmistad has a NO bullying- Tolerance policy

Word of the Week

Columns

Meaning: a vertical arrangement of figures or other information. Can be used instead of: lines, list

Study Skill

Process of Elimination

How to incorporate the study skill:

Cross off answers that you know are not correct. Physically cross them out, if at all possible to help better visualize the rest of the choices. Make an educated guess if you still do not know the answer after eliminating choices.

Virtue

Moderation

Moderation is creating balance in your life between work and play, rest and exercise. It is having or doing enough of something- not to much, not to little, but what;s right for you. If you study all the time or play all the time it is not being moderate. Moderation is being in charge of your time and using self-discipline to keep from doing too much or too little.

Moderation Affirmation

"I am moderate. I am thankful and content to get what I need. Work and play are balanced in my life. I don't overdo or underdo but find what's just right for me."

Thank you for all you do. We are truly thankful. We look forward to seeing you next week.
