Census 2020

Census Bureau workers are currently visiting households that have not yet completed the 2020 Census and they will only ask the 9 questions that are on the census form. Remember, that there is no citizenship question in the survey.

Census workers will stay outside your door, wear face coverings, and maintain 6 feet of social distancing. Census workers will not ask for personal information such as social security number, credit card or bank account information, donations, or money.

Census workers will conduct their work between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. They will have an ID badge that includes their name, photograph, Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date.

County, State, and Federal Updates

On Tuesday, August 11, the Board of Supervisors approved an urgency ordinance that provides tools for the County to enforce mandates in the Health Orders issued to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Under the ordinance, the Public Health Officer can designate enforcement officers, which can include sworn peace officers, but also other county employees. Administrative fines will be between $25 and $500 for individuals and $250 to $5,000 for businesses. There is also a 72-hour grace period to allow businesses to correct the violation before fines are imposed.

See FAQs about the County Shelter in Place Order here.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced Aug. 10 an additional $81.8 million in commitments from private and philanthropic partners to provide resources and services for individuals needing to isolate or quarantine.

Stay-at-Home Resources

We're almost back to school -- it just is going to look different this year. Here are ways to help build in "normal" routines while things are still very not normal.

COVID-19 Updates

You may notice that the number of new cases from day to day might not always add up to the cumulative total of cases. This is because the county’s quality control measures and those of the California Department of Public Health may determine a need for reclassification of some cases. These small adjustments are due to changes in results from inconclusive or pending, or duplications in results, and are normal occurrences in the day-to-day collection of complicated data.
