Back in 2016, the absolute queen of pop; Madonna returned pnce again with her latest and ultra-succesful ¨Rebel Heart Tour¨wich allowed the singer and millions of fans around the world to reunite to each other one more night. As it was expected the show was full of controversy on which Madonna expresses her deepest feelings towards topics such as ¨self-aprpreciation, equality for minorities and most importantly; religion.¨ ¨I created the piece because I knew that this would allow minorities to feel free in a night where the can be whatever they want to be.¨ said the artist. Not enough Madonna presented us a crucifix-shaped scenario where homesexual dancers freely expressed their attitude and outrageous nuns danced over dance poles.
A few days later many social groups around the world tried to kick out the singer out their radar in order to be able to cancel her show, but millions of fan around the world fought for what they call ¨freedom of expression¨ while some other reject the idea of having a homosexual man holding a bible. In respose to this; an American teenage boy named Walter defended thr artist saying ¨she´s probably the only person who have ever allowed me to be whatever i wanted to be; nothing would ever change that¨ said the 17 year-old boy.
it might be true that is not necessary to bring up all this ¨holy¨symbols to such outrageous night, because millions of people not only in American miught get offended but also around the world, but it is also true and visible and the same time is that Madonna´s point has always been able to bring freedom and hapiness for those who appeal to be rejected and also today more than ever before, Madonna´s noncomformist movement and she continiously fights in order ti get it done. I believe that Madonnas connects perfectly with this example of Transcendentalism because as thoreau said ¨The wildest animals do not repose, but seek their prey now¨ that connecting this with my exaple it is easier to see the thirtiness of Madonna in order to give these people a voice so they´d be free.
It was 2009 and the world was passing thorugh a lot of controversy and problems, but none of that could ever stop the powerful and amazing Madonna. In the same year she started her biggest project back in the day, "The Sticky and Sweet Tour." During the same tour Madonna present a series of coloful and interteining perfomances full of energy and exitement, but none of these performance will ever compared when she deceided to include and interlude with a song called "Get Stupid", within the song the audience could not only find but actually visualized a long series of cruel images showing environmental problems around the world and the over warming.
During the same perfomance that has around 4 minutes long, Madonna also critized the way the goverments from all around the world are doing in order to stop this global issues that affect us all. Moreover and probably and most contorversial moment of the act is when Madonna finally pronounce the 4 lined stranza on which she says "get up! is time, your life!, your world! get up! is time, your life! your chooice! is time for you to read the signs! after that Madonna continues her other numbers as she would usully do but a 33 year-old man was interviewed after watching the queen of pop and he expressed that the more touching moment of the night was when she presented to the audience the track "get stupid" on which appeared a lot of violence towards Mother nature, " it was really touching and the same time blaming to see everything we have done to this world and how amazing is to see someone who still cares about this issues on her dayly basis." expressed the men.
I beleive that my example connects perfectly within the quote that i provided because after whatching the perfomance it is really easy to identify the real message of this perfomance that is full of anger and sadness at the same time towards every human being due to the unresponsibility that we have been taking over the last 10 years of so. We are in an absolute need for change in order to not have a cleaner place to live but better lives that comes whithin. Also there is this line on the quote that says"“In the woods, too, a man casts off his years, as the snake his slough" for me the woods is represented on Madonnas's performance as the planet earth and the snake is the human race that is constantly throwing unnessesary stuff and wasting the natural resources, in other words our "slough" represented on quote.
Back in 2013, the multi-talented academy award winner actor, Matthew Mcconaughey gave an interview for Pop Magazine on which he let the audience see the simplicity of his life in order to get to know him in a more deeply-personal way.
During the interview Mcconaughey explained that the best way to live is to be as simple as possible, regarding how great other stuff can be; in other world simplicity is the key to every man´s success by saying, ¨I rather have my older Chevy sedan, the same one that i had back in the day when i was 17, than a porsche 911. For me the older car memories and not stiches on the backseats.¨ explained the actor. Moreover took place on a simple locations in Malibu California, on which the actors appeals to feel more comfortable.
I believe that Matthew Mcconaughey is a more than a perfect example in order to prove the simplicity on a human being because of his simple but truely wisely way of thinking that allows to see that 18 karat gold rings does not impressed him at all. Also, I strongly agree that Matthew Mcconaughey is one of the simpliest stars ever in Hollywood because after all of his mega-success and Eccentricities that surround him every day, he´s really able to stay ¨clean¨of those things and focus what matter the most to him which is his family. In conclusion I think that my example connects perfectly with the quote because After all, Matthew continous to do what he loves the most but keeping his humble side.
Back in 2012, Madonna once again, more free than ever, presented the world her newest ideas recopilated on a master live piece called "The MDNA Tour. During this concert Madonna Hypnotized the audience with an incredible openning full of darkness and mistery. As the show continued, Madonna change her entire look so she would procedure to perform one of her most unapologetic songs, "Human Nature" during this song, Madonna invityed her audience to be themselves, to achieve what they have wanted to achive, no fear, no judgement, just acceptance would be sent backwards them. one of the most poweful lines that i found in this song are the follwing
"You wouldn't let me say the words I longed to say You didn't want to see life through my eyes You tried to shove me back inside your narrow room And silence me with bitterness and lies (Express yourself, don't repress yourself) Did I say something wrong? Oops, I didn't know I couldn't talk about sex Oops, I didn't know I couldn't speak my mind." For me this song in particular connects very easy with the quote that i chose because both pieces appeal to have almost the same message, which is that no matter what society would always going to judge your decisions and also i think both pieces show some sort of anger as a reponse for such disapprovement.
2012 and once again the unstoppable Madonna bring us one of her most famous classics, "Express yourself" but this time with a reformulated theme that contains the same powerful message, being comfortable with what we have and not rushing in order to have more and more.
in the lyrics of this song we can find the following, "You don't need diamond rings Or eighteen karat gold Fancy cars that go very fast You know they never last, no, no What you need is a big strong hand To lift you to your higher ground Make you feel like a queen on a throne"
For me this Madonna's perfomance is the perfect example that there is more in life than just materialistic stuff and that there is responsaiblity to see beyond every person's boundaries in order to fins happiness, but i also believe that both the song and quote share the same idea, wich is, "Happiness is always accessible to such a person regardless of their financial circumstances. This is preferable to one's happiness being dependent on having lots of money to get the things which make you happy, happiness being what they mean by being rich. Also that it does not matter how much you have or how much you need there is always time to be happy despiting out our problems.
