Blink! Thinking without thinking... By: Malcolm Gladwell (265)

The book Blink is all about thinking without thinking. The book glides you into a series of experiments made by a professional that studies people and the emotions they have or express throughout a normal conversation. They use cameras to record people (it started as a couple and then lead into other people) and slow down the images to the second and use an approved coding to analyze the peoples emotions their subconscious expresses. The main focus of the book is centered by two experiments that study the subconscious decisions we make from day to day and moment to moment, and the impulsive judgement we express and how it could actually be good..to an extent.

throughout the book i found it amazing and interesting how the author began by explaining how the couple was having an argument about a dog. Everything seemed completly normal and the couple seemed nice and relaxed the entire time. But then the athor continued to explain how after coding the couples conversation...it was not what the eye saw. the couple showed annger and frustration mostly on the male's side. On the female's side she showed a high ammount of narcissism and empowerment, as well as rolling her eyes multiple times. The author then went on to explain how this couple wasn't mearly argueing, they were infact angry and frustrated. I found this interesting because i was compleatly fooled by my superficial first impression.

“our world requires that decisions be sourced and footnoted, and if we say how we feel, we must also be prepared to elaborate on why we feel that way...We need to respect the fact that it is possible to know without knowing why we know and accept that - sometimes - we're better off that way.”
