36 Hours in Breckenridge, CO By Erin Stuteville

Day One:

One of the main attractions of Breckenridge is it's ski resort. With over 2,900 acres of terrain, it includes 5 peaks with a total of 137 trails, 34 total lifts (including gondolas), 4 terrain parks, and 2 half pipes. The ski runs range from green all the way to double blacks. The green and blue runs are typically wide and well groomed. The black diamond runs are steeper and may or may not be groomed. The double black diamond runs are the steepest of all the runs made for the experts. This is due to the exceptionally steep slopes along with other hazards such as narrow trails, exposure to wind, and obstacles like bumps, drop offs, and trees.

The resort also includes 10 on-mountain restaurants, all with amazing food and views. At the base of Peak 7, Sevens is an up scale bistro dining experience with breathtaking views. Ski Hill Grill, located at the base of Peak 8, is a great place to stop and grab a bite and sit on the patio all while being just steps from the ski lift. TenMile Station offers a variety of gourmet meal choices served in a food-court style. The 9600 Kitchen is an American bistro inspired restaurant the chefs believe and take pride in creating every dish from scratch using fresh, local ingredients. With a large deck and lively music, The Maggie is a family friendly restaurant that also has a coffee bar, a full service bar, and a Bloody Mary bar, all of which are open from 3pm-7pm. Don't worry about hiking over to this restaurant, because The Maggie has ski-in access from Peak 9. The Overlook Restaurant, located at the top of Peak 9, is the highest altitude of any other dining place in Breckenridge. It offers panoramic views of Breckenridge as well as the mountains surrounding it. If you are looking for a nice place to go and wind down after a long day hitting the slopes, Park Avenue Pub is the place to go. There, they offer drinks, late-night snacks, and appetizers. TBar is a favorite hot spot for the locals. Enjoy food all inspired with a "Colorado-twist" on them while sitting on the patio and enjoying live music on the weekends. The Vista Haus serves burgers, pizza, brats, soups, and salads and is open during the lunch hours. With a casual atmosphere, The Living Room welcomes people straight off the slopes for both lunch and dinner. They also serve beers and cocktails anytime of the day and have a large selection of wines.
