On Sept. 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria ravaged the island of Puerto Rico. Winds up to 155 mph destroyed thousands of homes and swallowed roads, leaving residents without access to drinkable water, food, medical care, electricity and communication. Recovery is slow. Residents endured months without essential utilities. The disruption of daily life has left residents feeling anxious and abandoned.
