The Sahara Desert is the world´s largest desert. It is found in northern Africa and stretches all the way across the continent.
Even though the Sahara Desert covers such a large portion of the continent of Africa, it actually does not have that many people. Only 2 million people call the area of the Sahara home, which is less than half of how many people live in Wisconsin.
Although the Sahara Desert can get extremely hot, there are times when it gets cool as well. From the months of December to February, temperatures can get below freezing in the desert.
The Sahara desert also does not have much vegetation. As you can see from the image, there are very few plants that are located in the desert.
