SICA Annual Meeting

Thursday, December 19th at 6:30p.m.

SICA Members are invited to our annual meeting. We will install officers for 2020, share updates on our work, and confirm any other needed business.

Fluid Friday

Fluid painting, or paint pouring, is a technique used with acrylic paints and flow medium that creates unique and really amazing effects. You end up with an incredible piece of abstract, fluid art that will amaze you, your friends, and your family. Plus, it is really fun! A relaxing form of art that is great for everyone.

All supplies are included- enough for each student to make 2 fluid pieces of art based on two techniques, dirty pours and swiping! Suitable for ages 8 to adult. Max 15 student

December 13 or 20 6p.m. to 8p.m.

January 10, 24, or 31 6p.m. to 8p.m.

Toddler Thursday

Toddler Tuesday at SICA provides endless opportunities for sensory exploration and artsy fun! Children are free to explore the materials provided during the session, and will be gently encouraged to use all of their senses while creating. Toddler Tuesday will provide an opportunity for socialization, problem solving, skill building, sensory exploration, and so much more.

Suitable for ages 1-5, Dress for mess! Classes on Thursday's from 9a.m. to 11a.m.

WATERCOLORS Beginner Series

Explore the delight of watercolor and develop basic skills. This four class series is an introduction to watercolor painting techniques exploring textures, mixing colors and creating strong compositions. The instructor will provide demonstrations and feedback to encourage you to create your own successful watercolor paintings. Student must purchase supplies for class and bring to each session.

Needed Supplies are listed below.

Paper: no less than 140 lb. individual sheets or pads. This weight is the most common and cost effective. Arches, Fabriano, Canson, Strathmore, Cotman are all good quality papers. Watercolor Tube Paint: starting with primary colors (red, yellow, blue). Winsor-Newton, Cotman, DaVinci, Holbein, Daniel Smith, Schminke, Grumbacher are all manufacturers of quality paints. Paint Brushes: synthetic, #10 round brush, a 1” flat brush, and a big flat 2” brush for washes. Palette: Teacher’s personal preference is a butcher tray with plenty of room for mixing. There are many plastic, white palettes available with wells on the sides and a middle section for mixing. Water Containers: 2 unbreakable wide mouth containers. Other materials: Pencils, erasers, sponge, spray bottle

Four Part Class occurs on January 7, 14, 21, and 28 6:30-8:30p.m.

Pottery Lessons

The pottery barn at Southern Indiana Center for the arts will be open every Saturday from 11:00-1:00 for youth and from 1:00-3:00 for adults. This will be an open studio and students are encouraged to bring their own ideas and let our trained pottery instructor help you develop them into your own personal masterpiece. SICA is happy to help you complete for your projects. “Pottery is a multi-step process and it can take about three to four weeks to get a project complete.” Said Betty Johnson, Resident Pottery Instructor.

The pottery barn will continue to be open on Thursday nights for additional instruction by prepaid reservation only. Come check us out for all your pottery needs.

Cost for a session is $20.00 for non-members and $16.00 for members. Annual membership rates begin at $25 dollars for an individual!
