HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER!

Valedictorians & Salutatorians

Congratulations Class of 2019

Southfield Public Schools celebrated the graduation of 521 students from Southfield High School for the Arts & Technology and University High School Academy with ceremonies at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater along the Detroit River. Ninety-two percent plan to further their education at a college, university or business/trade school in the fall. This year's graduates earned more than $31 million in scholarships and awards. Congratulations to all of our graduates!

Celebrating commitment to volunteerism and service

Comcast employees and their families, the Southfield Kappa Foundation, and Southfield Public School District students and families, staff and community volunteers 'make change happen' as they work on community service projects at Levey Middle School for the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day.

Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day. The tradition celebrates the company’s year-round commitment to volunteerism and service in communities across the country and around the world.

“Supporting employee volunteerism is a core value at Comcast,” said Tim Collins, regional senior vice president for Comcast’s Heartland Region, which includes Michigan. “It is incredible to see how we can drive meaningful change by bringing together our employees, their friends and families, and our local community partners, both on this day and throughout the year.”

Meet Up, Eat Up keeps kids nourished in the summer

Some children look forward to summer break with excitement and anticipation, while students who rely on meals at school to keep them fed may be filled with fear and uncertainty.

To help fight food insecurity, the Michigan Department of Education administers the "Meet Up and Eat Up" program, officially known as the Summer Food Service Program. Providing nutritious meals to students who might otherwise go without can help reduce summer learning loss.

"Meet Up and Eat Up" provides free meals to children up to age 18 or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a state or local public educational agency. This summer, free meals will be provided at the site(s) listed below:
