Tess Burgler - Director, Asst. Fight Director

Audiences might remember Tess as: Hamlet, d’Artagnan, Rosalind, Helen, Kate Middleton, Hermione, Ariel, Viola, Juliet, Cordelia, Maid Marian, Rosaline, Imogen, among others. She’s a huge nerd and plays a Level 6 Human Fighter (Eldrich Knight spellcaster) in her own Dungeons and Dragons campaigns.

Sarah Blubaugh - Monster Fight Core

Sarah is delighted to be making her Ohio Shakes debut! After receiving a BA at Cleveland State University, she has been seen performing throughout NE Ohio, including roles with Blank Canvas Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, and Cleveland Shakespeare Festival. Favorite credits: The Way I Danced With You (Dani), Romeo & Juliet (Juliet), Avenue Q (Kate Monster) Much Ado About Nothing (Margaret). She is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with this company, and sends love to friends and family for their constant support. She thanks you for supporting local theatre, and hopes you enjoy the show!

Sarah Coon - Vera

Sarah is thrilled to return for her sixth season. Previous credits include Mina, Benvolio, and Celia. She recently began directing the Greenshows at Stan Hywet. She also has two scripts in production this year: Maid Marion... and Frankenstein (with co-author Joe Pine). Sarah holds an M.A. from Bowling Green State University, and an M.Ed from John Carroll University. She thanks her family and friends for the continued love and support.

DeLee Cooper - Ferah the Faerie, Evil Tina, Narrator

This is DeLee’s third season with Ohio Shakes! Previous Ohio Shakes credits include: The Lion in Winter (Alais), Treasure Island… (Ensemble), All’s Well That Ends Well (Rinaldo), The Three Musketeers… (Jussac, Innkeeper), and Camelot (Morgan le Fay). She holds a BFA in Acting from Wright State University, and has also performed in the NEO area with Cain Park, Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, Pointillism Jazz Consort, French Creek Theatre, and Beck Center for the Arts.

Josh Crank - Monster Fight Core

Josh Crank is happy to make his debut with Ohio Shakespeare Festival. He has a BA in theater studies from Youngstown State University. Josh’s stage experience includes roles in such shows as Fox on the Fairway, Romeo and Juliet, Almost, Maine, No More Peace, and more. He has also worked at Richmond Shakespeare Festival from 2017-2019. He was also the scenic painter for West Virginia Public Theater for their 2015 season.

Ashley Dyer - Assistant Stage Manager

Ashley is back for her third season with Ohio Shakes, and is psyched to be working on this awesome show! She will also be seen onstage in the upcoming Miss Holmes. Last season, Ashley stage-managed Treasure Island… and crewed Complete Works... (Abridged) and The Lion in Winter. Recently she has also been found stage-managing the $5 Series of staged readings at Western Reserve Playhouse. She sends love to her wonderful husband, family, and friends.

Julia Fisher - Monster Fight Core

Julia is delighted to be performing in She Kills Monsters after directing it last year at Saint Martin de Porres High School. Julia was last seen in The Penelopiad at Ensemble Theatre, and she has performed at Cleveland Play House, Cleveland Public Theatre, Talespinner Children’s Theatre, BorderLight International Theatre Festival, and Playwrights Local. She is a member of the Young Playwrights Collective through Playwrights Local, where she recently held a workshop production of her new musical Tatterhood, with music by Vickey McBride. Abbie Garrison - Crew

Abbie is honored to join the Ohio Shakes company! After completing her production internship at Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston Texas, she is back and excited to rejoin the Ohio theatre community. Some of her past credits include: Production Stage Manager and Theatre Director at Camp Ballibay, Assistant Stage Manager for Rocky Horror Show at LCCC and Assistant Stage Manager for Little Shop Of Horrors at SRT.

Ernie Gonzalez* - Chuck

Ernie always loves loves LOVES coming back home/OSF, where he’s been performing since 2007. He now lives in sunny, but shaky Los Angeles, CA. TV credits include: “Carol’s Second Act” (CBS), “One Day At A Time” (Netflix), “Grace and Frankie” (Netflix), “Alone Together” (Freeform), “No Tomorrow” (The CW), “Training Day” (CBS), “American Crime” (ABC), “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC) and national commercials for Sonic Drive-In, Rite Aid, Lowes, and Nopalina (which is Mexican fiber….yup). Favorite Ohio Shakes credits include: Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Touchstone in As You Like It, Costard in Love’s Labour’s Lost and Lavatch in All’s Well That Ends Well, to name a few. Rachel Maria Ines - Tilly

Rachel is incredibly excited for her first Ohio Shakes performance! Last winter, she performed in the 40th anniversary national tour of A Christmas Carol (Nebraska Theatre Caravan). She has previously toured with Creede Repertory Theatre’s Young Audience Outreach Tour. She has also performed in outdoor American Indian dramas in Ohio and North Carolina. Josy Jones - Kaliope

Josy is an actor, director and playwright and founder of the Chameleon Village Theatre Collective where she creates site-specific theatre for public spaces. Since moving to Akron in 2017, she has worked as a playwright for Rebranding the City: A Humanizing Tour of Akron, Qu Theatr and Rubber City Theatre (Tame). She’s acted in several productions, including productions with Illusion Factory (Emperor’s New Clothes, Sojourner Speaks). She’s glad to be at Ohio Shakes for the second time.

Samantha Kaufmann - Agnes, Intimacy Director

Samantha is an actor and movement director; specializing in fight direction, intimacy direction, and circus theatre. After being transplanted to Chicago to study circus arts with Actors Gymnasium; she now travels to perform in and fight/intimacy/movement direct productions across the nation. She has her BFA from the University of Wyoming and her MFA from Florida Atlantic University. Marty LaConte - Monster Costume Designer

Marty loved the opportunity to do more creative work developing the monsters for this show. She has made various creations in Tempest, (fantastic creatures, Ariel, Caliban), Macbeth (severed head, ghost), A Thousand Clowns (topless hula girl lamp), The Winter's Tale (bear arm), Camelot (armor), King Charles III (crown jewels), Treasure Island... (horse), most recently 1776 (Betsy Ross flag), and the unforgettable Kimberly Akimbo (mailbox). She enjoys taking ordinary odd things and transforming them into a whole new being.

Alex J. Nine - Monster Fight Core

Alex returns home to Ohio Shakes after spending six seasons here from 2006 to 2011. He is a NE Ohio native and has acted/directed throughout the area, most recently appearing in God of Carnage at Twin Masks Performing Arts Center where he will be directing Proof in 2020. Favorite Roles include Hamlet at Coach House Theatre, Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Weathervane Playhouse, and Freddie/Philip in Noises Off at Hudson Players.

Maya Nicholson - Lilith Morningstar

Maya is so excited to join Ohio Shakes for her second season! She has been seen in Treasure Island..., Shakespeare in Love, The Lion in Winter as well as various ShakesBEER events. She is very proud to say that in the last few years she has directed some of her favorite productions, such as: Ain't Misbehavin' at Porthouse Theatre, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide when the Rainbow was Enuf at the Avenue Arts Marketplace and Theatre in Canton, as well as Sister Act at the Akron Civic Theatre. This summer she performed as Heroine in The Heroine Project, and she is so ready for her next adventure! She will also be seen on a shadowy night in a rousing monster mash! No matter if it's a game or a live creation of sorts….All there's left to say is, let's go get these monsters!

John Peters - House Manager

John is eternally grateful to work with the Ohio Shakespeare Festival! When not treading the boards, John is also the House Manager for Ohio Shakes. Recent credits include: Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Danceny) at Weathervane Playhouse, A Few Good Men (Cpl. Howard) at Hudson Players, Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery (Actor 1), Drop Dead! (Chaz Looney/Drools) at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre, The Psychic (Adam Webster) at Stow Players, and Murder on the Nile (Smith) at Coach House Theatre.

Joe Pine - Orcus, Technical Director

Joe has been with the Festival for over ten years. Recent Ohio Shakes roles include: Dickinson (1776), Shakespeare (Shakespeare in Love), Jonathan (Dracula), Prince William (King Charles III), Lancelot (Camelot), Romeo (Romeo & Juliet), and Athos (The Three Musketeers...). In addition to acting, Joe has also worked as a playwright with his original adaptations of The Three Musketeers and Dracula. Joe has also performed with Dobama, Shakespeare at the Castle, and Seven Stages Shakespeare Company

James Rankin - Miles

James is immeasurably happy to be a part of this process. Recent work includes Bill in Lobby Hero (Blank Canvas), Pompey in Measure for Measure (Ohio Shakespeare Festival) and Edgar in King Lear (Beck Center). James is a Northeast Ohio Actor who loves his work and if he could he would spend every moment in it. He is insanely grateful for this opportunity and he hopes you enjoy these stories. Thank you.

Shley Snider - Monster Fight Core

Shley is returning in her first-ever season at Ohio Shakes, after appearing as Maid Marion in Maid Marion: An Adventure, with Music and Bianca in ShakesBEER: The Taming of the Shrew. Previous credits: Telemachus/Maid (The Penelopiad, Ensemble), Jaques (As You Like It, French Creek), Henry V (Henry V, Cleveland Shakes), Velma (West Side Story, Akron Symphony). Kim Simbeck - Stage Manager, Makeup & Hair Specialist

Kim is ecstatic to join another wonderful OSF production. You may recognize her from the Box Office tent this summer or from buying a shirt at Greystone and you may have even seen her in shows at her Alma Mater Cleveland State University (2017, BA). Come back to Greystone to see her Time Warp in Rocky Horror next year. Much love and thanks to the OSF family and her magical Mom who fights like she’s made from steel.

Liberty Stehley - Evil Gabby, Monster Fight Core

Liberty is thrilled to be making her Ohio Shakes debut. She is a current senior at Kent State University pursuing a BA in Theatre Performance. There has recently been seen in Any Resemblance (Anglea, Marian, and others), NOW (Kimmie), and Macaroni Salad (Amber). She thanks you all for coming and hopes you enjoy the show!

Buddy Taylor - Lighting and Sound Designer

Buddy has been with Ohio Shakes since 2003, and even though he moved to Texas in 2008, he still returns several times a year to design lights, design sound, build set pieces, or just add his two cents to a conversation. Last season, he did Sound and Lighting Design for The Lion in Winter and 1776 here at Greystone Hall, and Lighting Design for Hamlet and Measure for Measure at Stan Hywet. Some of his favorite Ohio Shakes productions (so far) are Othello, Richard III, Much Ado About Nothing, The Comedy of Errors, and King Charles III.

Kelsey Tomlinson - Adventurer & Human Costume Designer

Kelsey is thrilled to be working on She Kills Monsters as a fighter and Costume Designer. Recent roles include Dorine in Tartuffe (Western Reserve Playhouse), Constance in Three Musketeers... (Ohio Shakes), and Sandra in A Thousand Clowns (Coach House Theatre). Notable design work includes costumes for: 1776 and All’s Well… (Ohio Shakes), Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Emma (WRP), and A Little Night Music (Lakeland). Much love to family and friends.

Eric Wloszek - Steve (the Adventurer)

Eric is thrilled to be making his Ohio Shakes debut. Eric will be graduating from Cleveland State with a BA in Theatre in fall 2019. At CSU, he played Chuck in their She Kills Monsters production. Ryan Zarecki - Fight Director

Loves his job as resident Fight Director (Excelsior) /Actor/Manager. He's played Orlando, Porthos, Mercutio, Quincy Morris, The Douglas, Thomas Jefferson, and Roy. His fight production company [They Fight], with partner Tess Burgler, host Fight Night at Greystone and works to bring safe, awesome violence to Northeast Ohio stages.
